COLD HEADER/THREADER SET UP OPERATOR PLANT 1
Location: Plant 1
Summary
- Set-up, operate, or tend forging machines to taper, shape, or form metal or plastic parts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Apply the use of cold forming principles.
- Start machines to produce sample workpieces and observe operations to detect machine malfunctions and to verify that machine setups conform to specifications.
- Measure and inspect machined parts to ensure conformance to product specifications.
- Read work orders or blueprints to determine specified tolerances and sequences of operations for machine setup.
- Turn handles or knobs to set pressures and depths of rams strokes and to synchronize machine operations.
- Repair, maintain, and replace parts on dies.
- Remove dies from machines when production runs are finished.
- Trim and compress finished forging machines to perform hot or cold forging by flattening, straightening, bending, cutting, piercing, or other operations to taper or form metal.
- Select, align, and bolt positioning fixtures, stops and specified dies to rams and anvils, forging rolls, or presses and hammers.
- Sharpen cutting tools and drill bits, using bench grinders.
- Install, adjust, and remove dies, synchronizing cams, forging hammers, and stop guides, using overhead cranes or other hoisting devices, and hand tools.
- Position and move metal wires or workpieces through a series of dies that compress and shape stock to form die impressions.
- Other duties as assigned, instructed, or directed.
Education and/or Experience
Equivalent of a high school education or related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have prior Cold Heading or Threader experience
- Must have at least one year of production machine manufacturing experience
- Ability to use and analyze micrometers, calipers and all other measuring devices
- Always work in a safe manner, understanding safety and quality are priority
- Ability to read and understand steel-labels and lot-control tags
- Ability to understand and operate controller
- Able to work overtime on weekends
- Must have good visual acuity to read and use software
- Ability to understand and measure parts using appropriate measuring tools
- Basic Computer Skills
- Basic Mathematic skills to include the use of decimals and fractions
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Punctual, reliable and team-oriented
- Positive attitude
- Occasionally crouch or bend to operate controls (lower than 36" from ground)
- Must be able to move around production area, including standing and bending
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
