Job Summary:
The Tax Manager at Legence will support the tax function by handling a variety of tax-related tasks crucial to the company’s compliance and effective operations. In this role, you will work on tax provision reviews, financial statement disclosures, and federal and state compliance requirements, ensuring accurate and timely tax reporting. The Tax Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain compliance, improve tax processes, and support tax planning initiatives.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and assist with the preparation and filing of U.S. tax obligations, including income, sales, and property taxes.
  • Review tax accounting provisions in compliance with ASC 740 and assist in preparing related financial disclosures.
  • Conduct basic to intermediate-level tax research to support compliance and planning efforts.
  • Assist in providing tax support for business transactions, including M&A due diligence and tax planning.
  • Collaborate with finance and other departments to resolve routine tax-related issues and improve communication around tax processes.
  • Support the development and implementation of process improvements in tax compliance and reporting.
  • Assist in responding to U.S. federal and state tax audits and provide support for tax inquiries as needed.
  • Work with external advisors on specific projects, ensuring alignment with the company’s goals and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain current knowledge of tax law changes and apply updates to processes and policies.
  • Supervise and provide mentorship to junior staff, when it becomes applicable, ensuring timelines and compliance procedures are followed.
  • Maintain and review tax calendar to insure timely filing.
  • Calculate and file federal and state estimated tax payments.
  • Manage tax department budget for external advisors’ fees.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Taxation; CPA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in corporate taxation, with some experience in public accounting or similar industry experience.
  • Familiarity with U.S. GAAP tax accounting and provision standards.
  • Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with attention to detail and a focus on accuracy.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work well within a team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing regulations and maintain compliance under tight deadlines.
