The VarcoMac team has an exciting opportunity for a Sr Project Manager in Northern Virginia! Are you an organized problem solver? If so, we need you!

VarcoMac LLC is seeking a Sr Project Manager candidate with experience in performing and managing complex electrical systems for a variety of customers. The successful candidate will report to one of our Project Executives and will be responsible for job estimating, job setup, project management, and customer satisfaction. Strong communication skills are a necessity to work effectively with other team members as well as owners and architects. Benefits include health insurance, 401(k), and vacation time. Salary to be determined based on education and experience.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks related to electrical systems and develop mitigation strategies. Ensure that all safety protocols are followed to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of personnel and equipment.
  • Project Planning and Coordination: Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure seamless execution of electrical projects.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with stakeholders, including clients, team members, and senior management. Provide regular updates on project progress and address any concerns or queries.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all project activities, including design documents, inspection reports, and compliance certificates. Prepare detailed project reports for review by senior management.
  • Project Management Skills: Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution, UPS systems, generators, and grounding. Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., NEC, IEEE).
  • Manage, plan, and coordinate projects to optimize the use of labor, materials, equipment, and tools.
  • Secure subcontractors using standard subcontract agreements.
  • Survey job sites as for productivity, completion, cost to complete, efficiency, etc.
  • Employ the latest electrical technology, techniques, and practices.
  • Follow all guidelines, policies, and procedures established by the Company and project specific programs & protocols.
  • Promote a safe and injury-free work environment for each project.
  • Attend jobsite meetings, internal and external
  • Plan, schedule, or coordinate construction project activities to meet deadlines and maximize productivity.
  • Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites to ensure that proper construction procedures are being followed.
  • Compile progress billings for the project and assist with payment, as needed.
  • Price and process all change orders for each project.
  • Inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes and environmental or other regulations.
  • Manage activities during the warranty timeframe.

 

Qualifications:

  • 5 - 10 years of project management experience in a data center environment
  • Bachelors or Technical degree in electrical construction or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience estimating, budgeting, and managing electrical work for large commercial projects
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Project, and electronic estimating software (Bluebeam)
  • Strong knowledge of the electrical construction industry is highly desirable
  • CAD skills a plus
  • Valid driver’s license required

  • Problem Solving: Able to identify patterns beyond noise or incomplete information by demonstrating a willingness to engage by asking questions. Attention to detail, able to segregate beliefs and assumptions from facts. Demonstrate strong judgment to turn information into insights, practical solutions, and decision-ready recommendations.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Project, and electronic estimating software
  • Proficient with cost estimating program
  • Customer and Personal Service: Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Administration and Management: Knowledge of business and management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources.
