Cafe Worker - Riverboat Cafe

Since 1971, A New Leaf has faithfully worked in service to our mission of “Helping Families…Changing Lives,” making a positive impact in the lives of more than 24,000 people each year in the Phoenix Metropolitan area.  Services focus on HEALTH, HOUSING, AND COMMUNITY SERVICES, offering a continuum of support to move households from crisis to long-term health and stability. A New Leaf continues to grow to respond to needs in our community by developing comprehensive, relevant and effective services for vulnerable and underserved families, children, and adults.

Riverboat Acres has eleven acres of land used for fundraising purposes which support A New Leaf’s homeless, and domestic violence shelter programs in Maricopa County. The main building, designed as a riverboat, is 5,350 square feet (seats 750 people) and hosts multiple bingo sessions each week.  Riverboat Acres also offers RV storage, an indoor meeting/event facility, a covered pavilion (seats 200 people), two wooden gazebos, a fenced tennis/basketball court, and a wonderful Café, The Captain’s Galley”.

Hourly Pay Rate: $14.70

Schedule: Friday, Saturday, Sunday (part-time)

Location: Surprise, AZ

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:          

• High school diploma or GED, preferred. 

Experience:        

• Food service and handling experience, preferred.   

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES. Responsibilities will include but not limited to:  

• Provide excellent customer service with a positive attitude and courteous behavior to all individuals you come into contact with on your work schedule and while at Riverboat Bingo and cafe. 
• Work with either café helper or cook depending on position. ‘ 
• Maintain knowledge of the Maricopa County Food & Beverage Service Workers Manual. 
• Complete incident and/or Accident reports as required and notify Manager immediately. 
• Verify cash register beginning bank. Operate cashe register.
• Prepare, maintain and re-stock all food products and miscellaneous items. 
• Receive food orders and ensure customers receive orders in a timely manner. 
• Delivery and hand out food orders, condiments, etc.  
• Maintain a clean environment at all times.
• Perform head counts during bingo jackpot games. 
• Prepare café for closing: complete all final paperwork and cash reports.  
• Accept Donation (in-kind and cash), as well as participate in 5 annual drives. 
• Train and supervise all café new hires as directed by team lead or management. 
• Record any and all documentation pertaining to the Riverboat Snack Bar (waste, repairs, temperature logs, etc). 
• Maintain basic knowledge of A New Leafs programs, and mission.  
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.  
• Demonstrate commitment to teamwork, and establish and maintain effective working relationships through effective communication.  
• Consistently and accurately make and give appropriate change for sales. 
• Ability to lift minimum of 30 pounds and stand for long periods of time. Other duties as assigned.
