Facilities - Maintenance Technician

Scope: 

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and maintenance of A New Leaf's physical facilities and equipment. This role involves executing both short- and long-term maintenance projects, responding to maintenance requests, and ensuring the safety and functionality of the buildings and grounds. The technician will perform a variety of tasks, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and general facility repairs, while maintaining compliance with safety and operational standards. The position will also include monitoring A New Leaf's vehicles and systems, handling maintenance tickets, and participating in an on-call rotation. 

 

Responsible to: Director of Facilities  

Supervisory Responsibilities: None 

 

Hourly Pay Rate: $18.00 - $21.00 DOE

Schedule: Monday - Friday; 5:30am - 3:30pm

Monthly Weekend On-Call Rotation (with on-call pay)

Location: Phoenix, AZ (On-Site)

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and document individual maintenance and repairs using the Maintenance Helpdesk ticket software.
  • Close all completed tickets daily and ensure documentation is up to date.
  • Plan and execute both short-term and long-term maintenance projects.
  • Communicate relevant information to the Facilities Manager and, if necessary, to the Chief Operations Officer.
  • Make immediate decisions regarding minor expenditures and submit receipts in a timely manner through the agency’s website.
  • Monitor A New Leaf vehicles, including maintenance checklists, auto insurance, and repairs.
  • Participate in on-call rotation, responding to maintenance needs promptly when scheduled.
  • Perform general upkeep of the assigned physical facilities, including repairs and maintenance of systems like heating, cooling, electrical, plumbing, and appliances.
  • Carry out basic carpentry repairs and minor remodeling jobs.
  • Monitor fire alarm systems and provide recommendations or concerns to the Facilities Manager.
  • Perform landscaping maintenance when requested, such as mowing, trimming, and planting.
  • Communicate with the supervisor regarding ongoing maintenance issues and project updates.
  • Work cooperatively with the maintenance staff to resolve and troubleshoot issues.
  • Maintain and repair swimming pools, if applicable, and ensure necessary documentation is completed.
  • Drive personal or agency vehicles, including passenger vans, to complete daily business tasks.
  • Operate machinery and power tools safely and in accordance with safety standards.
  • Attend and participate in maintenance meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management. 

Qualifications: 

Education: 

  • High School or GED preferred  

 

Experience:

  • Demonstrated skills in all major areas of maintenance, including carpentry, remodeling, plumbing, electrical, vehicle diagnosing and repair, landscaping, painting, roofing, and pool maintenance.
  • Proven ability to work independently to manage and complete tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to achieve organizational goals and maintain a high standard of facility upkeep. 

 

Compliance/Requirements:   

  • Class One Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Valid Driver’s License with reliable transportation
  • Current Auto Liability Insurance
  • 39 Month Motor Vehicle Record
  • Must Be At Least 21 Years of Age
