A New Leaf's Office of Refugee Resettlement Program is seeking a compassionate and organized Shift Lead to guide and support our team in providing essential services to refugees and asylum-seeking individuals. This role is responsible for overseeing daily operations during assigned shifts, ensuring compliance with program protocols, and maintaining a safe, welcoming environment. The Shift Lead will supervise staff activities, provide guidance on case management, and coordinate resources to meet the immediate needs of program participants. This position requires excellent communication skills, a commitment to cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work in a dynamic and often fast-paced environment.

 

Hourly Pay Rate: $23.80

Location: Mesa, AZ

Schedule: Sunday – Thursday; 6am – 2pm

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • High School or GED required. 
  • Associate degree in human services field, preferred. 
  • Bilingual; possess effective verbal and written language skills in English and Spanish required. 

Experience:

  • Minimum 6-months experience working with youth. 
  • Minimum 6-months experience working in an ORR contracted facility. 
  • Basic computer literacy; including, navigating a Microsoft Windows operating system, Outlook email exchange, and online applications. 
  • Experience supervising staff, preferred. 
  • Experience creating postings and staff schedules, preferred. 
  • Strong ability in problem-solving and on the spot decisions. 
  • Strong ability to maintain boundaries between staff and clients. 
  • Ability to drive clients to approved scheduled activities (i.e. school, appointments, etc.) in 12-14 passenger van and adhere to Agency driving policy and procedures, preferred. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES. Responsibilities will include but not limited to:  

  • Complete regular walkthroughs of campus to ensure safety of clients, staff, and property. Report any safety issues or concerns to Supervisor. 
  • Supervise Youth Care Workers and clients to ensure activities are appropriate and safe. Ensure daily activity schedule is followed. Supervise client headcount every 15-30 minutes.
  • Supervise Youth Care Worker posting and ensure line of sight is maintained in all areas in the milieu; including, the restroom, showers, kitchen, living spaces, during client transport, and outdoors. 
  • Assist shift supervisor with completion of formal evaluation/performance reviews for Youth Care Workers. Coach and train Youth Care Workers to provide proper supervision of and care to youth. 
  • Supervise Youth Care Workers to make sure all tasks are completed. Provide follow-up coaching and documentation under the direction of the shift supervisor.
  • Supervise staffto ensure purchasing authorizations are approved prior to purchases, credit cards are returned to program, and receipts are turned in for purchases.
  • Document (verbal/written) and submit significant and routine paperwork regarding client and programmatic activities; including, Significant Incident Reports/ Incident Reports (SIR/ IR), National School Lunch Program (NSLP) logs, and medication logs.
  • Complete client Daily Progress Reports (DPR), daily. Accurately document client participation, behavior and activities through the shift.
  • Provide verbal crisis intervention and counseling to clients.
  • Escort exiting clients to airport and flight gate. Support client exit by handling exit documents, picking up client ticket, explaining security check process, and coordinating with airline staff to escort unaccompanied minor. 
  • Assist clients in one-on-one tutoring and GED prep as necessary. Be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
  • Attend and participate in professional growth activities specific to career goals within the agency (i.e.conferences, supervisory trainings, etc.)

Compliance:   

  • Class One Fingerprint Clearance Card 
  • Must pass pre-employment drug test & various background checks
  • Must be able to provide proof of Immunizations (Varicella, MMR, TDAP & Flu)
  • Valid Driver’s License with reliable transportation, preferred. 
  • Current Auto Liability Insurance, preferred. 
  • Clean 39 Month Motor Vehicle Record, preferred. 
  • Must Be At Least 21 Years of Age
