Cook – Faith House Emergency Shelter

A New Leaf's Faith House Emergency Shelter is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Cook to join our team. This role is essential in supporting our mission to provide safe, nutritious meals to individuals and families seeking refuge from domestic violence. The Cook will be responsible for preparing daily meals, ensuring food quality and safety, managing inventory, and maintaining a clean, organized kitchen environment. Hourly Pay Range: $20 - $23 (depending on years of experience)

Schedule: Monday - Friday;10am - 6pm
Location: Glendale, AZ

Qualifications
Education:

• High School Diploma or GED required

Experience:

• At least 2 years of recent related experience required
• 3 months of demonstrated experience providing excellent customer service, demonstrating reliability and ability to follow instructions and/or volunteer experience preferred
• Knowledge of community resources preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of food safety practices 

Responsibilities:

• Meal and snack preparation for clients and staff. 
• Other meals/snacks for clients as requested by administration.  
• Pick up food donations and shopping. 
• Complete and submit food orders online.
• Supervise kitchen and provide clean-up following license standards. 
• Prepare meals according to established weekly menus approved by nutritionists.
• May prepare meals for Agency functions as requested by Agency need.
• Marketing and other shopping as necessary following program protocol and maintaining program budget.
• Formulate dietary planning and preparation, including special dietary needs of clients.
• Maintain current and accurate information on food and nutrition.  

Compliance/Requirements:

• Class One Fingerprint Clearance Card
• Valid Driver’s License with reliable transportation
• Current Auto Liability Insurance
• 39 Month Motor Vehicle Record
• Must Be At Least 21 Years of Age
