About the role

 

This position reports to the Manager, Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement and works closely with teams across Leadsonline, more precisely with the Supply Chain, Logistics, Production, Engineering, Methodology, and Quality teams.  We are a crucial part of Leadsonline product development and operations groups.

 

The Configuration Specialist/Continuous Improvement Coordinator position is a dual-role position:

 

As a Configuration Specialist you will be is responsible for creating and maintaining configurable items, both material and software.  To align partners in engineering changes so that the Ballistic system maintains its integrity over time. 

 

As the Continuous Improvement Coordinator, you will assist the Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement Manager to coordinate and track the various improvement projects across project levels, priorities, and team availabilities.

The Configuration team’s role is focused on the gathering and maintaining of data needed to help partners build Bills of Materials (BoMs) for our products in an ISO 9000 environment.  Understanding and documenting engineering change orders (EC) is also a major focus area for the role. You will work with partners to ensure the proper coordination of the approval process and distribution of breaks through engineering changes.

Roles and Responsibilities

Configuration role:

  • Create and maintain all parts and Bills of Materials (BOM) in an ISO 9001 environment.
  • Maintain all documentation for parts and standardization process.
  • Partner with the engineering, methodology and validation teams to manage the process of the Engineering Change Order (EC) for all products under the configuration specialists’ control including nomenclature, drawings, and product related documentation such specifications, plans and reports.
  •  documentation and nomenclature for hardware products.
  • Updating of JIRA tickets for EC, part requests or BOM tickets.
  • Co-lead the change management weekly meeting by following the daily activities of engineering change requests.
  • Identify of all required actions to implement the change.
  • Coordinate all change approvals.
  • Train and support all those working in the configuration management team.
  • Utilize your expertise together with other teams for the management of numbers of items and the interpretation of Form, Fit, Function (FFF), and related tracking needs.

Continuous Improvement role:

  • Track progress of various improvement activities.
  • Assist in the prioritization of improvement events
  • Assist coordinating assignments of projects to facilitators,
  • Coordinate with facilitators for update on project milestones and metrics.
  • Reporting status of continuous improvement metrics.

Qualification and experience

  • College degree in Information & Library Technologies
  • 5 to 8 years of knowledge and experience in configuration management.
  • Practical knowledge and experience in data management, material engineering and change management, engineering in a production and R&D environment.
  • Proficient with working in an of ERP system (preference Great Plains).
  • Knowledge of ISO 9000 and change management standards.
  • Excellent knowledge of Document Management Tools (preferably SharePoint/Confluence).
  • Practical knowledge in Continuous Improvement methodology.
  • Experience with working in JIRA.
  • French and English written and spoken.
