Associate Accounting Apprentice

SUMMARY OF THE JOB:
Reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager, the Accounting Associate Apprentice is responsible for handling various accounting related tasks.
The Accounting Associate Apprentice position will participate in an apprenticeship program designed for entry level and junior staff to develop broader awareness of key aspects of accounting, finance, and business. It includes completion of the Foundation and Operational levels of the CGMA Finance Leadership Program leading to a Diploma in Management Accounting. The CGMA Finance Leadership Program is a guided, digital learning and assessment route to help teammates grow into holistic accounting and finance professionals, valued business partners and earn the prestigious CGMA designation.
This apprenticeship lasts for around one year.
The AICPA’s Registered apprenticeship is approved through the U.S Department of Labor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Collaborate on general accounting projects, which may include assisting with G/L account reconciliation and month-end closing.
- Enter invoices to be paid into the Accounts Payable system daily, with close attention to detail, ensuring the appropriate approval process is selected for payment authorization.
- Monitor Accounting email inboxes and process requests and/or invoices daily.
- Incoming mail – scan paper invoices and email to invoice inbox for processing
- Set up and maintain the vendor system including accurate 1099 reporting files for the Bank’s subsidiaries)
- Perform clerical duties as needed, including answering telephones and logging mails.
- Complete all training for Apprenticeship program including on the job and virtual instruction.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
Serves as backup to the Accounts Payable Analyst

Adhere to established policies and procedures, security standards, and compliance guidelines, including BSA and OFAC policies and procedures
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma
- Ability to work independently and a team environment, in a high-volume area with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
- Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- General office equipment operation (keyboard, mouse, corded phone).
- Prolonged sitting in a stationary position.
- Lifting, turning, bending – not to exceed weight capacity of 25 lbs.
