Vice President, Data Management

We are an independent, global, one-stop-shop focused on delivering Central Laboratory Services that are tailor-made, timely and flexible to meet the evolving study demands of traditional to increasingly complex trials. Additionally, we provide Functional Service Provider (FSP) Solutions, supporting our clients with scientific and technical expertise, acting as an extension of their team, coordinating all laboratory related needs, advising on strategies for lab data collection and providing end-to-end analytical and logistical solutions.
Summary
The Vice President (VP) of Data Management will lead and oversee all aspects of data management at LabConnect, ensuring the efficient, secure, and accurate collection, storage, analysis, and dissemination of clinical data. This senior leadership role is responsible for creating and executing the strategic vision for data management, working closely with cross-functional teams to enhance data quality, improve processes, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. The VP of Data Management will play a key role in driving the organization’s data strategy, helping LabConnect to provide world-class data services to our clients in the pharmaceutical, biotech, and healthcare sectors.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the company’s data management strategy, aligning it with LabConnect’s overall business goals and objectives.
- Provide leadership and direction to the Data Management team, ensuring optimal performance, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Act as a thought leader in data management, identifying opportunities to improve data management processes, systems, and tools.
- Serve as a liaison with clients on significant project developments and new business, as appropriate • Contact clients (senior management/department heads) on a quarterly basis to ensure client satisfaction.
- Oversee the planning, development, and implementation of data collection, management, and reporting systems, including Electronic Data Capture (EDC) and Clinical Data Management (CDM) systems.
- Overview the planning, acquisition, and implementation of systems to meet the Data Management needs of the organization.
- Interact with other functions within the organization to ensure that the functions within Data Management operate efficiently and meet applicable regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all data management activities comply with relevant regulations and industry standards (e.g., GxP, 21 CFR Part 11).
- Lead initiatives to continuously improve data quality, ensure accuracy, and mitigate risks associated with data.
- Collaborate with technology teams to integrate data management solutions with other clinical trial systems, ensuring seamless data flow and real-time insights.
- Provide strategic guidance and data expertise to stakeholders, including project managers, clinical teams, and external partners.
- Create and maintain a collaborative, high-performance environment, empowering team members to drive results and innovation.
- Serve as the executive point of contact for key clients on data-related matters, ensuring the successful delivery of data management services.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing insight into data quality, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
- Stay abreast of technological advancements in data management, analytics, and automation, evaluating their potential for improving LabConnect’s service offerings.
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Life Sciences, or a related field. Ph.D. or equivalent experience is a plus.
- Minimum 10-15 years of experience in data management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within a clinical or life sciences organization.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale data operations, including Electronic Data Capture (EDC), clinical trial data management, and/or laboratory data.
- Strong background in regulatory compliance, data governance, and data quality standards (GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, HIPAA).
- Familiarity with clinical trial operations, data analytics, and clinical trial management systems (CTMS) is a plus.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with executive leadership, clients, and cross-functional teams.
- Expertise in data management platforms, databases, and analytic tools (e.g., R, SAS, SQL, Python, or similar technologies).
- Solid understanding of cloud technologies and data integration systems. • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a track record of driving process improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Strong project management skills and experience leading large, cross-functional initiatives.
- Experience with data integration platforms and cloud-based systems (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Knowledge of data privacy laws and ethical guidelines for managing patient and clinical data.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Working Location:
- Raleigh, NC preferred with in office meetings as needed. Otherwise remote.
