Field Operations Manager (Large Agriculture Equipment)

JOB DESCRIPTION
BASIC PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION
This position will be responsible for growing Large Agricultural Equipment penetration and Kubota in-house share across the United States by working with Ag Product Specialists (APS), Product Management, Dealer Development Department, Regional Sales Managers (RSM) and District Managers (DSTM) to build a strong Large Agricultural Equipment dealer organization. Lead and manage Lg Ag Equipment Product Specialists based in the Field.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES: This position does the following in accordance with all applicable Federal, State and local laws/regulations and the Company’s policies, procedures and guidelines:
- Assist Product Marketing Director to establish and maintain mid and long-term strategy for Lg Ag Equipment dealer network enhancement.
- Manage the strategy to grow market share for Lg Ag Equipment. Grow Dealer locations in order to expand service coverage for Lg Ag Equipment customers. Define locations and tools to grow market share with existing Kubota dealers, in-house share, and new Lg Ag-only dealers.
- Develop Lg Ag Equipment dealer models, including Lg Ag-only locations, in concert with Dealer Development Director.
- Support DSTMs to recruit, build, and maintain an industry of Lg Ag Equipment dealer network by executing the Lg Ag Equipment dealer models.
- Support of Field Sales Organization to encourage existing dealers to increase sales of Kubota Lg Ag Equipment products as well as increase dealer in-house market share.
- Develop and periodically update and maintain data templates for target dealers and target Lg Ag Equipment customers.
- Results driven approach to manage a large field-based team through effective communications, managerial skills and guidance to keep their focus on company objectives.
- Analyze data of largest market opportunities to develop a target list of specific Dealers for each Ag Product Specialist to focus on in order to accomplish the growth goals for the year.
- Gather industry and competitive marketing/sales program information and make recommendations for Company programs to encourage Dealers to increase sales of Lg Ag Equipment customers.
- Report monthly to Management on Dealer Network Enhancement progress and obstacles, as well as Ag Product Specialists’ field activities.
- Participate in local and national trade shows to promote assigned products and increase brand awareness.
- Actively recruit and hire Ag Product Specialists to maintain dealer coverage and dealer support.
SPECIAL PROJECTS
- Special projects may include Lg Ag equipment launch events and conducting new product field surveys with company engineers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND TRAINING:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration preferred Marketing, or other related field.
- 8 to 10 years related experience. Extensive Lg Ag Equipment experience leading competitive brand preferred. Successful sales experience in Lg Ag Equipment preferred.
SKILLS AND BACKGROUND:
- Outstanding knowledge of the Large Agricultural Equipment industry and Large Agricultural Equipment Dealers.
- Must be able to think strategically and make proposals in a logical way to create business. Ability to effectively negotiate with customers/dealers.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills. Full accountability for the results of the Ag Product Specialist team.
- Orients, guides and mentorship of new Ag Product Specialists, providing guidance through annual performance reviews and disciplinary counseling, if needed.
- Adheres to all policies and procedures, code of conduct, Company values and demonstrates high ethical standards. Sets a good, positive example to subordinates in the workplace by being tactful and treating others with respect.
- Provides timely feedback to employees and to the direct supervisor. Encourages the team to share ideas and concerns.
- Good interpersonal skills including the ability to develop effective internal and external working relationships.
- Outstanding time management, planning and negotiation skills. Is dependable and punctual with regular and consistent attendance.
- Develops budgets for the Department/Division and adheres to the budget. Conserves Department/Division and Company resources.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge, skill, and ability to safely operate assigned equipment.
- Proficiency using SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and the ability to quickly learn and use other software packages.
- Exercises discretion and good judgment to matters affecting the Department, Division and Company.
EQUIPMENT OPERATION (% of time, description, nature of service):
- 70% Travel and working alongside Product Specialists, Dealers and demo equipment.
- 50% Office equipment including computer, copier, fax, phone, printer.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Office and field environment. The position will require walking, standing and sitting at a computer.
- 30% in the field with customers, dealers and operators.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Travel Required – approximately 70%.
