The Impact You Will Make
This individual will be responsible for working with inventors and business stakeholders on a variety of technologies in the drug delivery combination product space, and will contribute to expanding and maintaining an intellectual property portfolio for Kindeva’s multiple drug delivery platforms.
Essential Job Functions:
- Conduct invention disclosure meetings with internal technical teams. Strategize with the inventors, management, and other colleagues to execute Kindeva’s IP protection strategy.
- Assist in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications including analyzing office actions, proposing response strategies, and assisting with responses to office actions.
- Perform initial patentability and freedom-to-operate searches and assist counsel in drafting assessments.
- Provide training to non-IP colleagues in topics such as requirements for confidentiality, patentability, trade secret protection, trademark protection, and other IP topics.
- Manage company’s overall IP portfolio.
- Maintain records of Kindeva Intellectual Property in internal tracking tools.
- Engage external counsel on global Intellectual Property matters.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum years of experience: 5+
- Bachelor’s Degree required. Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry or Electrical Engineering preferred.
- 5+ years of experience managing intellectual property matters, including prosecution, freedom-to-operate and due diligence activities. Experience in a corporate legal department or law firm setting is a plus.
- Demonstrated understanding of USPTO and global patent and trademark prosecution processes.
- Demonstrated ability to perform IP searches.
- Agent registered to practice before the USPTO.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to work independently in a constantly evolving environment.
- Experience in the medical device or Pharmaceutical industry.
- Experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
