The Impact You Will Make

This individual will be responsible for working with inventors and business stakeholders on a variety of technologies in the drug delivery combination product space, and will contribute to expanding and maintaining an intellectual property portfolio for Kindeva’s multiple drug delivery platforms.

Essential Job Functions:

• Conduct invention disclosure meetings with internal technical teams.  Strategize with the inventors, management, and other colleagues to execute Kindeva’s IP protection strategy.

• Assist in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications including analyzing office actions, proposing response strategies, and assisting with responses to office actions.

• Perform initial patentability and freedom-to-operate searches and assist counsel in drafting assessments.

• Provide training to non-IP colleagues in topics such as requirements for confidentiality, patentability, trade secret protection, trademark protection, and other IP topics.
• Manage company’s overall IP portfolio.
• Maintain records of Kindeva Intellectual Property in internal tracking tools.
• Engage external counsel on global Intellectual Property matters.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum years of experience: 5+
• Bachelor’s Degree required. Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry or Electrical Engineering preferred.
• 5+ years of experience managing intellectual property matters, including prosecution, freedom-to-operate and due diligence activities.  Experience in a corporate legal department or law firm setting is a plus.
• Demonstrated understanding of USPTO and global patent and trademark prosecution processes.
• Demonstrated ability to perform IP searches.

• Agent registered to practice before the USPTO.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to work independently in a constantly evolving environment.
• Experience in the medical device or Pharmaceutical industry.
• Experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
