PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Under general direction of Assistant Manager, Sales Development department, execute policies and procedures set forth by the.  Sell, plan, develop, and coordinate for new revenue sources.  In addition, be active in the "support services for Japanese companies expanding into Hawaii," which are project that JTB Hawaii Travel LLC has been strengthening its efforts.

Research & Marketing

  1. Continuously researches public calls for proposals, bidding opportunities, projects, and other initiatives issued by the Japanese and American governments.
  2. Consistently research public calls for proposals, bidding opportunities, projects, and other initiatives in which our company can participate by working with JETRO which is our important client.
  3. Discover Japanese companies interested in expanding their businesses into Hawaii and initiate contact with them.

Plan & Operation

  1. Plan, arrange and manage Events and Promotions tailored to client requirements to ensure the success of the projects we have secured through contracts.
  2. Create implementation plans and implementation reports for events and promotions aligned with client requirements to ensure the success of the projects we have secured through contracts.
  3. Have own clients(partners) company assigned, respond to inquiries, resolve their issues and concerns, sell JTB products and services to achieve the target company required.  Operate the business received from existing clients such as JETRO, Docomo and JCB, together with team members, and aim to expand revenue.
  4. To promote our services, update JTB Hawaii, Inc. (JHI) corporate website, new OLIOLI website, JHI web, MyBus web, Superstar, etc. Compile relevant data for research and marketing purpose.
  5. Provide promotional services, corporate PR advertising, PR events, planning and creative services to generate business.  Aim to handle total coordination of export promotion PR.

Collaboration

  1. Update and maintain optional tour/omiyage tariff data in various in-house computer systems. Provide tariff data and information to relevant sections, Japan offices, etc. for publishing of JTB tariff.
  2. Update contract information and distribute to relevant departments. Create various tables and codes for products. Collect information (waiver forms, floor plans, etc.).
  3. Analyze, supportand resolve work problems.
  4. Support services for JTB Japan Group, providing services that can only be provided locally. (Rurubu related services, etc.)

Cross- Departmental Collaboration

  1. Communicate with departments to resolve customer claims and complaints. Process charge waiver requests. Periodically meets with contract accounts to negotiate rates and conditions, or problems; report problems to upper management.
  2. Establish and maintain a viable communication network and good relationships with business partners and Japan offices.
  3. Communicate in person, by phone, fax, or e-mail with vendors to verify information; check on quality and complaints. Take initiative role in quality control. Oversee quality control over all optional tours on all islands, frequently involving actual participation in various optional tours.
  4. Coordinate with other departments and divisions in promotion and development of new programs.
  5. Coordinate the maintenance of updated and revised information to be distributed to external sources via JTB Hawaii’s websites andcommissioned external websites.  Coordinate with other departments to collect, correct, and edit the information, and to translate to Japanese/English context, if necessary; upload the data in a timely manner according to established procedure.
  6. Collaborate with other divisions/department on events organized by the company (Honolulu Festival, Honolulu Marathon, Goodwill Foundation Golf Tournament, etc.)

 

Secondary Functions:

  1. Process charge waiver requests.
  2. Assist other departments or sections during peak periods as required.
  3. Assist in coverage in the absence of staff.
  4. Pick up and deliver documents, tour brochures, rack cards, etc.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Associate’s degree or equivalent.
  2. Possess at least two (2) to three (3) years’ work experience in sales industry.
  3. Able to professionally and effectively communicate with employees, business partners, and clients in English and Japanese (written and verbal).
  4. Possess excellent customer service skills, knowledge of telephone operations, negotiation, etiquette, and business protocol.
  5. Able to work independently and cooperatively with others, able to work with employees, business partners, and customers in a positive manner.
  6. Possess knowledge of Hawaii’s tourism infrastructure, tour arrangement, optional tours, basic business concepts and procedures, reservations concepts and procedures, billing and invoice verification procedures, Japanese culture and customs.
  7. Possess working knowledge and skills with basic computer systems and software, application programs, software programs, e-mail and standard office equipment.
  8. Able to present ideas effectively, clearly and concisely, and communicate between all levels within the organization.
  9. Possess basic math skills including usage of 10-key calculator.
  10. Possess valid Hawaii driver’s license with clean abstract.

 

Working Conditions:

Working Hours

  1. Normal business hours:  8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, weekends and holidays, as deemed necessary.
  2. Overtime may be required, with prior management approval.
  3. Regular attendance at the workplace is required.

 

Working Environment

  1. Air-conditioned office and/or remote environment.
  2. Work in large, open room with approximately 50-60 employees and multiple computer consoles.
  3. Travel to various locations outside of the office, outside of the State of Hawaii, where weather conditions may vary, but not limited to noise, dust, fumes and vehicle exhaust.

 

Equipment Used

  1. In-house computer system, personal computer, printers, 10-key calculator, copy machine, facsimile machine, telephone, and other standard office equipment.
  2. May use company car, if authorized, and camera for site inspections.

 

Physical and Mental Demands

  1. Able to solve problems and deal constructively with conflict.
  2. Constant – pulling/lifting/carrying less than 25 pounds, vision;
  3. Frequent – pulling/lifting/carrying 25 to more than 50 pounds, sitting, standing, walking, hearing;

  1.
