Dare To Be You- Facilitator - Parent and Student
General Summary
JSSA's Dare To Be You Program (DTBY) is a 10-week multi-generation substance use prevention education and support program for families with children ages 3 to 5 is hiring part-time Facilitators. The Facilitator delivers the Dare to be You Curriculum to children and parents in a workshop format. Each week the program position requires a minimum of 2.5 hours while in session. Class sessions run 10 weeks and 3 times per year.
Principal Responsibilities and Duties:
- Responsible to assist with recruitment and retention of DTBY Program.
- Responsible for session preparation and delivery of curriculum lessons/materials according to session agenda (ensuring program fidelity)
- Assist families in completing applications, pre/post surveys and evaluations.
- Maintain correct record of attendance every session.
- Attend a mandatory training of the DTBY Curriculum.
- Acts as team member for session set-up/break down and meal service.
- Communicate clear guidelines to parents and volunteers.
- Work cooperatively with all parents; accept them as vital partners in the developmental process.
- Serve as a positive role model for other staff, parents, and volunteers.
- Attend staff meetings, professional training, workshops and seminars to gain additional knowledge of available resources and skills.
- Maintain confidentiality of family records and information.
- Maintain First Aid and Infant/ Child CPR certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Service Field, or the equivalent of 4 years of experience in the field of early childhood development, social work, psychology, or education.
- Experience working with young children and their families, ability to work with families from different ethnic and socioeconomic background.
- Good communication skills: ability to work in a team environment.
