CNC Specialist
Job Description: As a CNC Specialist in the Manufacturing setting, your job duties include programming the CNC machine to ensure optimal functionality, maintaining the CNC machine itself, and evaluating the need for additional CNC machine capabilities.
What you’ll do:
- Coordinate the processes of CNC machining throughout all facilities of the company
- Develop fixtures, setups, programing for CNC machining processes
- Train CNC operators
- Recommend tooling for processes
- Recommend equipment
- Troubleshoot issues with machines and processes and help develop solutions
- Work with outside suppliers to install and facilitate proper implementation

Key Skills:
- Intermediate knowledge of precision measuring instruments including but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators and scales
- Intermediate knowledge of reading drawings and specifications within intermediate understanding of geometric tolerances and dimensions
- Intermediate knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts, and other accessories used on various machine

- Basic math skills, multiplication, division, geometry and algebra for purpose of calculating material fabrication
- Demonstrates knowledge of G and M code programming
- Demonstrates knowledge of Renishaw probe programming, set up and use
- Ability to take verbal and written instructions from handmade sketches
- Follows all safety policies and procedures
- Punctual - arrives to meetings and all other work-related functions as scheduled on-time
- Professional - interact with organizational team members and other departments in a professional manner
Responsibilities:
- Develop processes for programing parts, loading parts, operating controls, setting offsets, edits, deburring and inspection of parts for quality purposes
- Study and interpret drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operation and setup requirements
- Detect equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine as required to ensure quality production
- Communicate with supervisor, engineers, and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues
- Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventive maintenance functions on equipment
- CNC Specialist must be able to stay focused on their work and on their surroundings for long periods for safety, quality, and productivity reasons
- May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Light duty lifting may be required (up to 35 pounds) and using a hoist for heavy lifting to cut metal and install and remove tooling and work pieces from the machine
- Simple grasping, fine manipulation, pushing & pulling, finger dexterity, foot movement, bending, squatting, twisting, and reaching are all required at times
