ExtraMile Convenience Stores LLC is a joint venture owned by Chevron and Jacksons Food Stores.  The ExtraMile network is currently made up of more than 1,100 convenience stores in Alabama, California, Georgia, Idaho, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington.  ExtraMile Convenience Stores LLC is a fast-growing franchisor, expanding store count and geography annually. 

ExtraMile is looking for a Category Development Manager. This position will manage the Dispensed Beverage categories within EMCS and provide merchandising stewardship and support in new markets. This position manages Hot, Cold, and Frozen product categories, vendors, and strategies within the entire EMCS network. Additionally this role will support the merchandising team with new market strategies, processes, and analysis as ExtraMile continues to expand geographically.  This role will lead the Regional Merchandising Coordinator role. The incumbent must be a strategic thinker with the ability to innovate in order to anticipate the needs of the convenience retail customers.  In addition, they will be tactical and meticulous with strong analytical and project management skills. ExtraMile Convenience Stores is a fast-paced, results-driven business and must have an individual who will thrive in this environment to helm this position. 

Ideal location is Pleasanton,CA. with consideration for remote work in California, Idaho, Georgia

Some of what you'll do as the Category Development Manager:
•    Achieve sales and margin targets as developed in the planning process.
•    Continuously determine methods to increase revenues, reduce costs and improve overall results in assigned Category.
•    Develop and implement category plans throughout the network of stores.
•    Negotiate trading terms with applicable vendors, leverage scale and capabilities to continually enhance support.
•    Develop marketing and promotional programs for the items and categories.
•    Coordinate and communicate effectively with the Merchandising, Price Book, and Field Operations team to ensure precise implementation of category offers.
•    Ensure the coaching, mentoring, and development of all employees and leaders in the execution of category performance.
•    Work closely with other Category Managers to optimize merchandising strategies and overall store performance.
•    Lead merchandising cross-functional alignment with other departments to execute and improve site openings.
•    Support regional & localized merchandising strategy across new market geographies for all merchandising categories. 
•    Work with other Category Managers on developing regional opportunities and differentiation.
•    Support merchandising process development, efficiency, improvements, and accountability across site openings.
•    Represent ExtraMile at trade associations, conferences, meetings, trade shows and regional events.
•    Present category plans, reports, and other presentations to employees and Franchisee’s.
•    Other duties as assigned.

You'll be a great fit if you have:
•    A Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, or related field. A Masters in Business Administration (MBA) is preferred.
•    8+ years' experience in the food retailing or convenience store industry.
•    Strong knowledge of category management principles in the small format retail environment, ideally in convenience stores.
•    Thorough understanding of the retail customers and how they engage and shop small retail food offers.
•    Strong analytical skills using a data-driven approach for strategic decision making.
•    Proficiency with the MS Office suite, Outlook, and analytical tools
•    A history of being self-motivated and having strong attention to detail are essential traits.
•    The ability to work well in teams independently with a wide degree of latitude and decision-making discretion.
•    Demonstrated time management skills to meet department and promotion deadlines.
•    An ability to work a flexible schedule including travel and weekends when needed.
•    May require travel up to 20% of the time as required by company operations.

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, bend, and twist; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; and talk and hear.  Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.  This position will typically be exposed to a standard office environment.  While supporting marketing initiatives onsite, environmental conditions the incumbent will be exposed to include heat, cold, allergen, noise, and fume/chemical/odor exposure from gasoline and cleaning chemicals.
