Department Description:
IT support of in-house and 3rd party applications for the market customer bid-to-bill process stream, for analyzing and monitoring the markets, as well as applications used within the enterprise for corporate communications, web publishing, finance and security compliance.
What will you be working on:
In this internship, you will assist Market Monitoring Applications (MMA) team in the development and support of periodic analytical and reporting systems. Respond to internal business requirements by developing software system applications according to organizational software development processes. Conduct data analysis with business tools and custom programming to meet IT and business needs.
An intern on the MMA team will practice programming, communications skills, team dynamics, and independent problem solving. They will be part of an organization that develops custom software applications for interdependent systems so they will learn a software development life-cycle model. They will also get direct experience developing reliable and maintainable software based on end-user requirements.
Responsibilities include:
An intern in this position will bring a fresh knowledge of programming tools and techniques from the academic environment.
What we look for in a candidate:
Experience with database theory and applications.
Programming experience.
Introduction to data structures, relational database concepts, and statistics.
Experience and drive to learn computer applications through independent study.
Experience using command-line tools.
Self-starter who has demonstrated the ability to find knowledge resources and apply new knowledge to build team understanding of new computer systems and functionality.
Demonstrated ability to document guidelines and procedures for users and administrators of computer systems.
