Internship Title – Efficiency Analysis of Market-to-Market Coordination Schemes
Department – Advanced Technology Solutions
Minimum Education level: PhD
Preferred Majors: Electrical Engineering, Energy Economics
Department Description:
The Advanced Technology Solutions (ATS) department engages in both long-term research projects and near-term design/process improvements. The department consists of experts in three topic areas: power systems, simulations, and markets. In all projects, the goal of the department is to provide innovative and practical solutions to current and emerging questions for ISO New England.
What will you be working on:
This role will analyze the efficiency of the currently implemented Market-to-Market coordination scheme between NE and NY, quantify the causes of inefficiency and identify potential areas of improvements.
How will you make an impact:
You will gain the first-hand experience of analyzing a large-scale real-world problem from the power industry.
What we look for in a candidate:
Require knowledge of power system operations and electricity markets
Require background of optimization and decomposition algorithms
Require skills for manipulation and analysis of large set of data
Research experience in the seams issue between RTOs is preferred
