The ISO New England Transmission Outage Coordination team seeks a dedicated Supervisor that will work with us and our stakeholders to analyze and coordinate thousands of annual planned maintenance projects to ensure the reliable and economic operation of the rapidly evolving grid as New England transitions to a clean energy future. The priority of the role will be to assist the Manager in aligning the study approach, identify training required for the Transmission Outage Coordination team, and the approval of transmission outages submitted in the Long- Term.

How you will make an Impact:
General Tasks
- Update existing Operating Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures documentation relevant to the transmission outage process as necessitated by changes in the processes.
- Structure and monitor departmental activities to ensure compliance with all ISO and NERC requirements.
- Serve as Operational liaison with PMO and IT in various efforts to specify, procure and implement new/enhanced tools necessary to perform the core functions of transmission outage coordination.
- Ensure the proper receipt and processing of bulk electric system equipment outage requests including the coordination, study and approval/denial of such requests in a manner conducive with system reliability and efficient Electricity Markets.
- Initial management contact for issue resolution with Transmission Owners, Local Control Centers and Neighboring Control Areas concerning transmission outage coordination.
- Represent ISO NE as a Transmission System expert at various stakeholder committees, responding to Participant inquiries and complaints and as warranted modifying business processes and procedures through appropriate channels in an effort to meet these needs.
- Represent ISO/OSS at appropriate regional and national committees as assigned.
- Propagate training and development of the outage coordinators within the transmission outage coordination group.
- Ensure transmission outage coordination collaborates and coordinates with the Resource Management team.
- Ensure transmission outage coordination addresses issues and concerns 14 days prior to planned start of transmission outages.
Supervisory Tasks
- Manage the daily duties and projects of transmission outages
- Align transmission outage coordination process
- Ensure proper training is created and executed for transmission outage coordination
- Provide mentoring, expectations and development opportunities for staff
- Encourage a team-oriented environment
- Timely completion of administrative duties (performance reviews, goals, expense reports, time sheets, etc.) for assigned transmission outage coordinators
- Assist in the development of the OSS annual budget
- Fill position vacancies in a timely manner with qualified personnel
- Manage employees on a daily basis, encouraging, coaching and administering disciplinary actions when needed
- Arrange for transmission outage coordination personnel to have appropriate internal and external training where necessary
- Ensure that transmission outage coordination has software and hardware tools needed to perform their job
- Continue to maintain a high level of accuracy in performing all duties, meet rigid daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines
What we are looking for
- Bachelor's degree in electrical/electronic engineering or technical related field from an accredited college or university
- 10 -15 years related industry experience
- 4+ years, demonstrated leadership capabilities, guiding and motivating team members, and managing projects
- Understanding of key operational functionality within the electric utility industry including the outage coordination process
Desired no required
- Master’s degree in engineering or an MBA degree from an accredited college or university
- Basic IT support ability as it relates to Operational applications
- Wholesale electricity markets as they relate to Operations
- Experience with requirements in meeting operations compliance audits
- ISO Operational Systems and Processes and NEPOOL Operating Procedures
- Detailed understanding of various FERC Orders regarding Transmission Operations, Services and Markets
- Understanding of the function and interrelationship of ISO Operations software tools (e.g. PSSE, PowerWorld, PowerFlow, or TARA)
