ISO New England is the not-for-profit, independent system operator responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable flow of electricity in our region and planning for the future of the electric grid. We are at the forefront of New England’s ongoing transition to clean energy.

ISO New England is looking for an experienced (Microsoft) Cloud Infrastructure Engineer who will be responsible for the day-to-day management, maintenance and extension of the Enterprise infrastructure environment at ISO New England.  Your expertise will leverage your skills, experience, and knowledge to solve complex IT problems predominantly focused on workforce technologies.  We are looking for individuals who show ingenuity and inventiveness and who like working with a team to achieve excellence.

In this position, you will collaborate with stakeholders, end users and senior leadership to further the strategic goals of the company, applying your skills to create technological solutions that enhance or complete the ISO-NE corporate strategy. 

This position must always strive to maintain a secure and compliant computing environment.  You will participate in evaluating existing systems and processes to identify improvements and updates that keep them running in optimal conditions.  The ideal individual would also make independent technical decisions that are consistent with the architectural vision of management and infrastructure staff, while also mentoring and leading less senior staff.

Supported environments include, but are not limited to Active Directory, Exchange, SharePoint, O365, AWS as well as a sizable number of both physical and virtual servers.

How you will make an impact:

  • Project Management
    • Lead Infrastructure Reviews
    • Develop bill of materials and costing for projects
    • Document project tasks and resource assignments
    • Set task schedules and timelines to meet project milestones
    • Lead meetings and update project status
  • Project Execution
    • Design and execute proof-of-concept activities
    • Assist in product selection
    • Work with vendors to deploy new technologies
    • Track and update assigned activities
  • Maintain infrastructure
    • Develop asset life-cycle plans
    • Lead upgrade planning of end-of-life infrastructure
  • Spearhead efforts around automation and configuration management
    • Design and implement efficiency and consolidation efforts across multiple Active Directory environments

 

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Security, Cyber Security or related fields, or significantly relevant job experience
  • 12+ years working with infrastructure technologies
  • 7+ years integrating different infrastructure technologies
  • 5+ years of project management
  • 3+ years’ experience with Microsoft Azure and M365
  • Experience working with Microsoft Exchange 2016+/Exchange Online
  • Active Directory 2012R2/2019/2022 in an Enterprise environment, including backup and restore procedures, as well as support for multiple forests and domains
  • Experience working with Windows Server 2012R2/2016/2019/2022
  • Knowledge of data center operation best practices
  • Working with one or more IT concepts such as DevOps, Agile, ITIL, etc.
  • Employing configuration management technologies (Ansible, Puppet, etc.) and code management using GIT, CI/CD a plus
  • Fluent in PowerShell for automation of System Administration, Active Directory, Entra ID and Exchange, both on-premise and in cloud
  • Hands on experience with Microsoft Azure including Azure AD, Azure VM, and Resource Management
  • Strong knowledge of M365 services and administration
  • Experience w/ Azure Virtual Desktop & Windows 365 services
  • Desired not required
    • Advanced degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
    • One or more, or demonstrated experience:
    • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
    • VMware Certified Advanced Professional
    • Project Management Professional (PMP)
    • ITIL 4 Managing Professional
