SUMMARY:

Under the  supervision of the HR Manager, the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management through day-to-day interaction.  The position formulates partnerships across the Island Energy Services Downstream business unit while delivering value-added service to management and employees. 

Desired competencies include accuracy, attention to detail, and a proven ability to interact with all levels of the organization with a high degree of professionalism.  The ideal candidate must be able to establish priorities under tight deadlines and have a proven track record as a motivated, self-starter who can work on multiple projects and priorities within a fast-paced environment.  Incumbent is expected to have sound knowledge of Human Resources Information Systems, Learning Management Systems, and Microsoft Office Suite programs. Prior relevant experience in energy, manufacturing or retail  industries are  highly desirable.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provide day to day performance management guidance to line management (e.g. coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary action, etc.).  Works closely with management employees to improve work relationships, build morale and increase productivity and retention.  Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  2. Assists with Dayforce payroll policy set-up for employee onboarding and terminations.  Works with Retail Recruitment and Onboarding Coordinator (RROC) and Payroll team regarding payroll issues. 
  3. Leads recruitment, onboarding and retention strategies in alignment with Retail initiatives.  Works in partnership with Retail Management on a variety of strategic initiatives including rewards and recognition, employee relations, execution of new programs to ensure consistent processes and procedures are communicated to the workforce and provides guidance and assistance with employment policies and disciplinary actions. 
  4. Manages Retail leave and disability program including processing of disability claims, communications with employee and supervisor and return to work communications. 
  5. Analyzes trends and metrics for HR reporting. Provides policy guidance to stakeholders as requested.
  6. Coordinate and support Retail Random Drug Testing Program.
  7. As needed, assist IES Downstream with Recruitment, Disability Management, Alcohol and Drug Program, Performance Management and HR special projects.
  8.   9. Supports safety, reliability and incident and injury free operations.  Maintains commitment to a high standard of safety, complies with all safety laws and IES safety policies\rules, and reports actual and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory and management personnel to further IES core value of safety.

 

OTHER DUTIES:

  1. As needed performs tasks to serve as backup for other staff in their absence. 
  2. As assigned, work on HR special projects.
  3. Performs other duties consistent with the scope of the position.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience

  1. Minimum of 3 years of experience resolving complex employee relations issues.  Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws. 
  2. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field.
  3. SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Certified Senior Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential or ability to obtain certification within two years of employment (ten plus years of experience may substitute for certification).

Desirable Skills

  1. Microsoft Access software.
  2. Ceridian Dayforce HRIS software.
  3. Active Learner LMS software.

Other Requirements

  1. Willingness to commit to The Island Way (IES core values of): Kīnāʻole, Aloha, Lōkahi and Ho’ohana.
  2. Pass background check including periodic job-related physical abilities testing as required.
  3. Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) within sixty days of hire.
  4. This is a safety sensitive position and random drug testing is required.
  5. Valid driver’s license with clean abstract.
  6. Willingness to devote the time as needed to meet project and task deadlines.  Willingness to maintain or increase skills.

 

 

PAY AND BENEFITS:
