JOB SUMMARY:

The Environmental Health and Safety Manager will implement policies to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspects the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.

  • Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections.

  • Develops and deploys health and safety procedures for all areas of the company.

  • Prepares, schedules, and manages online and in-person training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics including managing records within LMS.

  • Monitors compliance with safety procedures.

  • Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings.

  • Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.

  • Maintains records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.

  • Maintains accurate records/fulfills records requests for various safety portals/websites to comply with customer site requirements.

  • Prepares reporting for regulatory agencies and leadership related to safety. 

  • Maintains and tracks employee safety training in learning management system (LMS).

  • Manages workers compensation claims, including post-accident investigations, action plans, and associated data/documentation.

  • Lead corporate safety committee, fleet safety, and forklift safety.

  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time to all company locations across the US as required to conduct safety inspections.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.

  • Proficient in Google Workspace/Microsoft Office.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field desired.

  • At least five years of occupational health and safety experience in an industrial environment required.

  • Fleet safety management experience required.

  • Completion of an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30-hour Outreach Training Program for General Industry is required.

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred, minimum Associate Safety Professional (ASP) required.

  • Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) certification required. 

  • Industrial hygiene certification preferred.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Sight, hearing, speech. Frequent lateral mobility; frequent entry and exit from vehicles; use of both hands and arms; routinely lift weights over 25 pounds; mentally able to plan and analyze verbal input; solve problems; make decisions and take appropriate action under moderate stress. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

 

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED WORK HOURS

This is a full-time position with a typical work schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., however hours or types of work may vary by location. There may be times where there is an expectation to work extended hours as dictated by business needs. This position requires the Ability to travel up to 75% of the time to all company locations as required to conduct safety inspections, attend training, and complete special projects.
