Program Manager, Law Enforcement Training
The general salary range for this position is $70,000 – $83,000. Salary offers will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, skills, training and education.
The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s most effective animal advocacy organization, is seeking a Law Enforcement Training Program Manager for the Outreach, Engagement and Training department. The primary purpose of this position is to manage the Law Enforcement Training Center for the Outreach, Engagement and Training department, including identifying and securing opportunities for trainings aligned with department goals, overseeing logistics, contracts, and recruiting/retaining trainers. Builds and maintains relationships with hosts and attendees. Supports law enforcement engagement in policy strategy at the local, state and federal level.
Responsibilities:
• Initiating and overseeing operations for the Law Enforcement Training Center (LETC). Identifying opportunities for trainings through State Directors, relevant conferences, and direct contact with law enforcement agencies, aligning trainings as needed with the legislative efforts of the policy team. Submitting proposals and booking trainings;
• Acting as the technical and primary lead in all aspects of LETC logistics, serving as primary contact for hosts, attendees and trainers, budgeting for each class, managing and disseminating materials/inventory, ensuring continuing education credits are secured, and overseeing outreach to relevant agencies in the region of each established training;
• Offering guidance and support to State Directors and program managers for incorporating LETC into policy strategy;
•Collaborating with Senior Coordinator to ensure that all administrative duties for the program are completed;
•Managing living database that tracks LETC schedule, attendees, feedback and policy engagement;
•Building and maintaining relationships with LETC hosts and attendees to expand HSUS’ network of relationships and build capacity;
•Content development and management; overseeing the creation and curation of all content for LETC in alignment with HSUS’ priority initiatives;
•Overseeing trainers, including maintaining a roster and calendar, onboarding new trainers, assigning trainers to trainings, processing invoices, acquiring approval for travel costs, and ensuring trainers are prepared for trainings;
•Performing other duties or responsibilities, as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required;
• A minimum of four (4) years of experience in training law enforcement professionals, program management, event planning, continuing education, or another related field required;
• Strong knowledge and understanding of the law enforcement profession as it relates to animal crimes;
• Law enforcement experience is a plus;
• Event planning experience is a plus;
• Willing and able to travel and work a flexible schedule;
• Proficiency of Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook);
• Strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Ability to multitask and be flexible with regard to workload and assignments;
• Attention to detail and commitment to excellence demonstrated by the delivery of quality and timely outcomes;
• Strong interpersonal skills are necessary;
• Strong interest in animal protection issues preferred.
