Analyst, Compensation and Benefits
The general salary range for this position is $70,000-$83,000. Salary offers will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, skills, training and education.
The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s most effective animal protection organization, is seeking a Compensation and Benefits Analyst for the Human Resources department. In this position you will manage the day-to-day compensation needs across the US side of the organization, including but not limited to, job grading, base pay administration, job offers, internal/external market analysis, and compliance. Take the lead on salary survey participation and analysis. The position will work in concert with the International Compensation Analyst for continuity of process and policy. This job is primarily Compensation-related but will support the Benefits function as well.
You will be responsible for:
• Performing analysis for job offers, promotions, reorganizations, etc. Respond quickly to requests for job offers from Talent Acquisition, preferably within 48 hours;
• Performing market pricing for new, modified, and repurposed positions. Evaluating and grading jobs to determine appropriate fit into job architecture, salary structure, and determine FLSA classification;
• Being involved in various compensation projects. Assisting with Annual Merit Increase process;
• Tracking spot bonuses, stipends, and other non-programmatic compensation awards;
• Fully responsible for job description database, maintenance, updates and audits;
• Performing compensation research and analysis, showing proficiency in utilization of market data systems (i.e., ERI, Mercer, Salary.com, Payfactors, etc.);
• Ensuring the integrity of employee data by performing regular audits;
• Providing timely and accurate responses to inquiries regarding compensation;
• Monitoring and updating employee tenure, experience, and education externally from HRIS;
• Becoming SME with HRIS and creating and running miscellaneous reports for self, management, and HR Team. Tracking compensation data that is not housed in Dayforce/HRIS;
• Partnering with Payroll, HRIS, and HR Operations to ensure quality of employee data;
• Participating in annual salary and benefit surveys by gathering and organizing data for third party vendors;
• Providing support to the Benefits function on a regular basis. Individual responsibilities may vary from time to time, but may include new hire benefits enrollment, leaves of absence, open enrollment, and others;
• Reviewing invoices for accuracy and submit for payment. Sorting out when delinquent pay notices are provided by vendors to determine where payments were not allocated correctly or missed. Ensuring all payments are straightened out to revert to good standing with each vendor;
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or a relevant field, or equivalent work experience required;
• A minimum of four (4) years of compensation and at least two (2) years of benefits experience required;
• Some knowledge of international compensation is a plus;
• Demonstrate a moderate amount of autonomy and ability to manage own deadlines and deliverables;
• Be available during normal business hours via phone, text, messenger and/or Teams;
• Demonstrated knowledge of compensation administration, compliance, and practices;
• Demonstrated knowledge of benefit program administration, compliance, and practices;
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather and evaluate complex data and information to develop analysis and recommendations;
• Very high attention to detail with a demonstrated commitment to excellence and performance improvement and the drive to deliver quality and value-added results and outcomes;
• Ability to read and comprehend the content of documents and take appropriate and timely action;
• Strong editing and grammar skills;
• Strong interpersonal skills for interacting in a courteous, timely, and diplomatic manner with all levels of staff as well as other parties/stakeholders involved with the organization;
• Strong communication skills with the ability to organize, articulate, and present ideas both verbally and in writing;
• Effective organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines with an appropriate sense of urgency;
• Ability to work independently, as an effective team member, and with all levels of the organization;
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and demonstrated competency in Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) usage. Knowledge and experience with Ceridian Dayforce a plus;
• Ability to handle information of a confidential nature and ensure that such information is secured and maintained in an appropriate manner.
This position is in the DC Metro Area- Remote Eligible
