The general salary range for this position is $58,000 - 68,000. Salary offers will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, skills, training and education.

 

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s most effective animal advocacy organization, is seeking a Video Producer for the Story and Video department. In this position you will be responsible for producing compelling live and on-demand stories exemplifying the work of the organization and its affiliates, and that align with its mission and priorities. These stories and other assets produced are used for fundraising, advocacy, and promoting the mission of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops compelling stories that advocate the mission of the organization.  Determines the appropriate camera shots/angles, images, subjects, and environments.  Edits to produce stories that reflect the mission and brand of the organization and responsible for directing subjects, as needed;
  • Works closely with other departments and subject matter experts to conduct on-camera interviews, analyze and edit footage, write scripts to produce stories that expose acts of animal cruelty for selected media outlets. Facilitates review/approval process with all necessary parties. Drives multiple projects forward simultaneously, delivering within deadlines. Utilizes organizational project management tools and media libraries to move projects to completion;
  • Works closely with the design and ad teams to produce video content that supports the library of video assets required for becoming and growing as one global organization;
  • Establishes department protocols that increase efficiency and integrate brand guidelines into the department’s work. Cultivates skill development and growth among team members.  Research technology and production techniques including trends and the latest equipment developments. Applies analytics data via YouTube analytics, Google Analytics and Terminus to adapt to evolving digital media trends, bolster viewership and engage audiences;
  • Performs other duties or responsibilities, as assigned.

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Video Production or a related field or equivalent work experience in a related field required;
  • A minimum of four (4) years of related work experience required;
  • Experience in narrative writing/storytelling and graphic design;
  • Knowledge of and practical data analysis experience;
  • Ability to be trained in Animal Search & Rescue, Swiftwater Rescue, and Technical Rope Rescue required;
  • Experience with numerous video production elements such as 4k, VR, live streaming and cinemographs;
  • Strong video shooting and editing skills, particularly with Go Pro, DSLR, Sony ENG cameras;
  • Knowledge of pertinent software programs such as Adobe Creative Cloud;
  • Knowledge of streaming media platforms such as YouTube and Vimeo;
  • Knowledge of live streaming platforms including Facebook Live and Instagram;
  • Knowledge of audio recording, equipment, and techniques used for podcasting;
  • Extensive knowledge of video production equipment;
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook);
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated and proactive;
  • Ability to multitask and be flexible with regard to workload and assignments;
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Attention to detail and commitment to excellence demonstrated by the delivery of quality and timely outcomes;
  • Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member in a team environment;
  • Must be willing and able to travel extensively;
  • Strong interest in animal protection issues preferred.
