Intern - Mechatronics
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Product Development Manager - General Markets, the Intern - Engineering Development is responsible for supporting the development of various mechatronics systems. The position provides a wide opportunity of engineering experience through mechanical design, basic electronics prototyping, and software development. This will be achieved while maintaining and supporting HellermannTyton's certifications, corporate policies, procedures, work instructions, and required documentation.
Essential Functions:
- Develop/build prototypes, proof-of-concepts, models, and any other means of conveying ideas
- Design, and develop electromechanical devices or systems.
- Design, develop, or implement control circuits or algorithms for electromechanical devices or systems.
Other Functions
- Support HT initiatives in I4.0, machine learning, and other advanced manufacturing areas.
- Support development from an electronics, hardware, firmware, and software perspective.
- Provide support to other product development markets, customer service, sales, production, quality assurance, and any other department which needs engineering expertise.
- Other duties as assigned.
Key Competencies
- Experience using a CAD modeling software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, Catia, etc.
- Software programming skills for PLCs, RasberryPi, Arduino such as C++, Python, etc.
- Strong problem-solving skills
Qualifications (skills, knowledge, experience)
- Enrolled in a mechanical engineering degree program with at least a sophomore status.
- Preferred experience with SolidWorks or similar
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
