Set-Up Technician - 1st shift
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Manufacturing Team Supervisor, the Set-Up Tech is responsible for using tools & overhead cranes to complete mold changes, rehangs, as well as pull molds for repairs and conversions. Ability to read water maps, water tools, properly purge machines & operate forklifts and keep their work areas clean and organized (housekeeping). The Set-Up Techs will make follow all set-up procedures and make sure they leave the area neat, clean and organized. This will be achieved by maintaining HellermannTyton's Quality and EHS certifications by supporting all corporate policies, procedures, work instructions and required documentation.
Essential Functions
- Proper installation and watering of all molds on all presses.
- Housekeeping; including return of unused supplies and auxiliary equipment to appropriate locations.
- Removal of all parts from previous job(s).
- Proper tying up of water lines so that they do not rub/burst.
- Proper shutdown of machines, including using the correct purge compound
- Assist in maintaining HellermannTyton's certifications by supporting: Corporate policies, procedures, work instructions, and required documentation.
- Wear required PPE (safety shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs, etc.) at all times during your scheduled work hours and supplemental PPE (heat resistant gloves and sleeves, face shields, etc.) when the job requires.
Other Functions
- Be active in presenting problems/potential problems to the Supervisor.
- Complete Forklift Training.
- Other duties as assigned.
Key Competencies
- Working knowledge of mold set up.
- Ability to assist in training employees.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all support departments.
- Have a thorough understanding of the effects of water flow on the molds.

- Thorough knowledge of production procedures and work instructions.
- Thorough knowledge of the operation of all auxiliary equipment.
Qualifications (skills, knowledge, experience)
- High school diploma or equivalency, required.
- 18+ months experience as a Process Tech 1.
- In lieu of prior plastic molding experience: candidates enrolled in a plastic molding program may be considered.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Excellent mechanical skills.
- Must be able to lift push and pull up to 75 lbs. and be able to stand/walk for 12 hours.
