Description: Harris Beach PLLC’s Energy Industry Team continues to grow and is looking to add depth and more experience to our Team. Specifically, we are seeking candidates to work with other members of our Team and our corporate and individual clients on a wide range of matters involving project development and siting, regulatory compliance, civil and administrative enforcement proceedings, and dispute resolution/litigation. Our types of clients are wide ranging and include electric generation facility owners, battery energy storage facility owners, electric and gas transmission facility owners, water and gas utilities, submeters of electricity, energy service companies, and large users of electricity and gas.
Responsibilities:
- Representing clients with regulatory matters before state and federal administrative agencies
- Planning and execution of pre-application strategy, drafting and filing application documents, and permitting for projects before various state and federal regulatory agencies
- Research federal and state statutes and agency regulations/orders affecting regulated industries and draft summary memoranda
- Draft administrative petitions and related filings, comments to administrative agencies, complaints/answers, memoranda of law, discovery demands/responses
Qualifications:
- 1-5+ years of general regulatory and/or litigation experience; energy experience preferred but not required
- Admitted in New York (or ability to waive in)
- Juris Doctorate from ABA accredited law school required
- Possess the ability to balance multiple priorities and be adaptable and responsive in a fast-paced, dynamic, team-oriented environment
- Excellent research, writing and verbal communication skills
- Organized with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work with diverse personalities within various levels of our clients’ and firm’s organization
- Military experience welcome
Salary information below will vary depending upon relevant experience for the position and geographic locations.
Albany, NY: $113,000 - $130,000
Uniondale, NY: $118,000 - $137,000
