HealthRIGHT 360 offers residential treatment services designed to serve  individuals and families with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders. Our program helps clients address addiction and related issues, increase skills, manage stressors, connect to supportive service, and build a foundation for lasting recovery.  Residential programs run 24/7 and Individual and group therapy, family therapy, individualized case management, treatment planning, drug and alcohol counseling, Medication support services, and crisis intervention.

Residential Facility for women age 18 and above with severe substance use disorders are able to enter residential treatment with their children under the age of 10 ½. In addition to treatment of severe substance use disorder, the residential program is able to serve the following specialty populations: pregnant and postpartum women, women with histories of trauma and/or domestic violence, women with co-occurring mental health disorders, women with history of traumatic brain injury, women with open DCFS cases, and women with criminal justice involvement.

Job Summary

The Lead Counselor I is a registered or certified substance use disorder professional who maintains registration from an approved/accredited California agency. The Lead Counselor I works in collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure best possible treatment outcome for the client and provide treatment in accordance with HealthRIGHT 360’s philosophy, goals, policies, mission and vision. Acts as the Counselor I Shift Lead and coordinates assignment and rotation of facility coverage. The Lead Counselor is responsible for coordinating lunch breaks, facility rounds, donations, visiting coverage, meal monitoring, detox rounds, and behavioral rounds. The Lead Counselor I provides supervision and oversite of the clients and children throughout the facility with shifts ranging to provide 24/7 coverage. The Lead Counselors I provide facility coverage by supervising the clients during: chores, visiting hours, meal times, medication line, detox, donations, groups, and free time. The Lead Counselor I is customer service focused and is quick to take the lead in providing crisis intervention and client stabilization. The Lead Counselor I has a high degree of self-awareness and the ability to stay calm under pressure. 

Key Responsibilities

A. Maintains a high degree of self-awareness and the ability to stay calm under pressure. 
B. Demonstrates strong crisis intervention and client stabilization skills and is skilled at motivational interviewing. 
C. Assists clients with intake, assessment, and orientation to program upon admission.
D. Utilizes trauma informed care while applying crisis intervention, motivational interviewing, and supervision of the clients. 
E. May monitor medication line as needed or assigned. 

Clinical Documentation
A. Write and complete all progress notes within 72 hours of service delivery. 
B. Maintains compliance with due dates for all clinical documentation.
C. Documentation must maintain in compliance with agency policy and procedures, HIPAA, 42-CFR, DMH, and SAPC standards.
D. Documents all client UA’s using the UA form and a progress note. 

Program Coordination:
A.  “Leads by example” and sets the tone of responsibility, trauma informed care, and client customer service. 
B. Responsible for ensure shift exchange occurs and is documented through email for all shift exchanges (Morning, Swing, Graveyard).

Training, Supervision, and Quality Improvement:  
A. Maintains full compliance with CCAPP or CADTP requirements for registration and certification. 

Position Requirements

 Education Requirements
- Registration as Substance Abuse Counselor from an approved/accredited California agency. 
 
 Experience
- Preferably a minimum of two years’ experience in the human service field and demonstrated expertise in substance abuse treatment, relapse prevention, and recovery. 
- Experience working with clients experiencing acute withdrawal from substances
- Knowledge of and experience with providing trauma informed services
- Experience delivering evidence-based practices
 
 Knowledge Required:
-Knowledge issues of related to substance abuse, mental health, and criminal background
-Culturally competent and able to work with a diverse population
-Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word Outlook and internet applications

Skills and Abilities Required:
- Professionalism, punctuality, flexibility and reliability are imperative
-Strong computer skills, including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
-Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
-Integrity to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner

-Able to communicate well at all levels of the organization including working with organization leadership and high-level representatives of partner organizations 
 -Able to work within a frequently changing project scope while maintaining overall direction and structured priorities
