The Medical Director is primarily responsible for the provision of the productive and quality medical practice at Haight Ashbury Medical Clinic and the Integrated Care Center Clinic. This is accomplished through the thorough understanding and promotion of integrated team-based care, clinical and operational medical clinic systems, monitoring of clinical skills and practice management of providers, participation in the performance improvement process, development of policies and procedures used to ensure quality patient care, support of the other clinical leadership and the orientation of new providers. The Medical Director serves a collaborative role and informs the Administrative Team on medically related issues.Key Responsibilities
- In conjunction with HR360 executive leadership, develops, implements, and oversees clinic site budgets.
- Participate in regular meetings with executive leadership to review budgets, utilization, and quality targets and progress toward goals.
- Develops and implements policies pertaining to the Medical Department.
- Provides medical supervision and oversight of quality of care among providers and ancillary staff in clinical areas.
- Promotes and enhances integrated team-based care in the provision of medical care, including patient centered care.

- Ensures that in the absence of a primary care provider, that a mechanism is established so that a physician is available to review lab and diagnostic reports, prescriptions, and follow up on medical care.
- Thorough understanding of, supervision of, and promotion of continuous quality improvement efforts.
- Provides supervision of medical providers.
- Strong Primary Care foundation and support clinical training of providers.
- Reviews employee performance provides feedback and makes recommendations for individual performance improvement and development for medical providers and other staff in regular supervision and for annual performance appraisal.
- Orients new providers, monitors performance during initial employment and thereafter through chart audits, utilization review and other processes.
- Performs annual performance appraisal of all direct report providers.
- Provides supervision to clinical leadership, i.e. RN manager, MA manager.
- In conjunction with HR360 executive leadership, works to enhance revenue portfolio and advance business development as it pertains to the medical clinics.
- Participates in and provides guidance for credentialing and privileging of clinical staff.
- Attends and participates in behavioral health case management, substance use disorder management and clinical collaboration activities.
- Participates in clinic leadership team activities.
- May precept medical students, NP/PA students, residents, and fellows. Able to educate, train, and supervise volunteers as necessary to maintain and build volunteer programs.
Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- M.D. or D. O. degree from accredited United States medical school.
- Successful completion of Internship and Residency from accredited internship/residency program.
- Three to five years experience as a primary care provider.
- Two years experience in Director or equivalent role.
- Board Certified in family medicine or internal medicine.
- Valid and active California medical license, without any limitations on license to practice in designated specialty.
- Eligible to participate in the CMS Medicaid/Medicare reimbursement programs.
- Valid and active DEA license with X waiver to prescribe buprenorphine. If do not currently have X waiver will need to obtain within 6 months of employment.
Desired:
- Experience working with patients with addiction.
- Experience working with patients that have a history with the criminal justice system.
- Experience with integrating safe management of pain syndromes within primary care.
- Experience with and knowledge of third-party payer requirements, California practice guidelines and malpractice laws, Title 22, Bureau of Primary Care, and state funding sources preferred.
- Experience working in FQHC and familiar with FQHC compliance requirements.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
