Outpatient programs provide Individual and group therapy, individualized case management, treatment planning, drug and alcohol counseling, crisis intervention, and connection to social support services.

Job Overview

Prototypes, located in Pomona, offers residential and outpatient substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and mental health services Prototypes is a leader in the field of SUD services, community mental health and criminal justice treatment. Prototypes installs hope that recovery is possible. This position is for our DMC funded, outpatient substance abuse treatment program.
The Clinical Therapist I is a Registered professional who maintains a current registration with BBS or CBP. The Clinical Therapist I is responsible for clinical assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, interventions, crisis interventions, and discharge planning. The Clinical Therapist I work in collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure best possible treatment outcome for the client and provide treatment in accordance with HealthRIGHT 360’s philosophy, goals, policies, mission, and vision. The Clinical Therapist I may provide treatment utilizing different modalities including individual, group and family therapy. Services may be provided in: outpatient office, residential treatment, or the field, based on client and program need. The Clinical Therapist I participate in the on-call rotation and may be required to respond after hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides thorough clinical assessments and diagnoses.
- Work with the client to develop the client centered treatment plans/problem lists.
- Monitor treatment progress and update the treatment plan/problem list as needed.
- Address mental health and/or substance abuse symptoms using individual, group, and/or family treatment.
- Provide thoughtful discharge planning to ensure the client safely transitions.
- Provide crisis assessment and intervention as needed.
- Seek clinical consultation throughout the treatment episode and when encountering new and/or high-risk clinical circumstance.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the treatment team including the Case Manager, Counselor, Medical, and Psychiatrist.
- Maintain frequent communication with the treatment team and engage in regular consults, clinical team, case conferences, and plan development meetings.
- Deliver services in outpatient, residential, or field depending on assignments and client need.
- Assist with crisis assessment, crisis intervention, and symptom management within assigned programs by providing 24-hour 7 day per week after-hours coverage on rotation with other Clinical Therapists.
- Meet expected client care hours (productivity expectation is 20 direct client care hours per week).
Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education, Certification, and Experience Required:
- MSW, MFT, LPCC, or PsyD Registration, from a regionally accredited graduate school and registration with the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) or the California Board of Psychology (CBP).
- First Aid Certified within 30 days of employment.
- CPR Certified within 30 days of employment.
- Experience working successfully with diverse populations specifically with issues of substance abuse, mental health, criminal background, and other potential barriers to economic self-sufficiency.
Desired:
- Minimum of two years’ experience providing DMH or SAPC services as a therapist.
- 2 years’ experience treating clients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
