Schedule
The typical schedule for this role is 6:30 AM - 2:30 PM or 3:00 PM, with flexibility to address urgent wheelchair repairs for children attending school or rare off-hour emergencies. The technician may also choose to stay later until 6:00 PM for offsite repairs or adopt a mixed schedule. While flexible, coverage is needed for either early mornings or later evenings.
A Day In the Life
As a Wheelchair/Adaptive Equipment Technician, you will work with physical, occupational, and speech therapists to provide customized wheelchairs and adaptive equipment that enhance mobility, comfort, and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble, repair, and adjust wheelchairs and therapeutic devices.
- Ensure equipment safety and compliance with regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized workshop.
- Collaborate with therapists and direct care staff.
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma (Associates in a technical field preferred).
- Experience using hand and power tools.
- Willingness to learn upholstery and embroidery machine use.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- CPR certification (provided if not current)
