Senior Construction Manager

Henderson Engineers is seeking a Senior Construction Manager to join their team in Lenexa, KS. The Senior Construction Manager oversees the most complex initiatives and ensures compliance with design, budget, and schedule. They have full project financial responsibility, including budget, profit, and cost projections. The leader contributes to design as needed and coordinates all field activities with the facility and the owner to ensure operations are not interrupted. The employee manages projects from assessment through design, bidding, and installation, while keeping the client informed and satisfied. In addition, the employee negotiates with subcontractors, maintains client relationships, and ensures a safe work environment with an emphasis on building and maintaining a high level of respect and rapport with both clients, colleagues, and engineering partners.
Minimum Qualifications for the Role are:
- OSHA certifications required.
- Ten (10) or greater years of relevant experience required in construction and the design of building systems.
- Project management, estimating, field installation, and installation supervision experience required.
- Advanced project management skills.
- Technical expertise in primary fields of focus (mechanical and/or electrical) as well as familiarity with other related fields.
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment and to recommend and analyze pragmatic solutions for clients.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards relating to the facilities in which we work.
- Possesses efficient communication skills.
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills specifically within Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project.
- Adapts to changing work environments, work priorities and organizational needs.
- Generates ideas for improvement, takes advantage of opportunities, suggests innovations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of construction or engineering preferred.
- Common examples include Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Science, Construction Engineering, and Construction Management. (Years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of requisite education.)
Skills and Duties you will be Responsible for while in this role:
Project Management:
- Directs the overall management of construction projects.
- Plans and sets project objectives, goals, and deadlines.
- Selects appropriate construction methods and strategies.
- Schedules and coordinates processes so that projects meet design specifications.
- Reports on status and progress of project and budget matters to clients.
- Facilitates the execution of the project installation phase.
- Produces/acquires and maintains all required project documentation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Engineering Design Team Assistance:
- Prepares layouts, detailed drawings, and schematics.
- Makes recommendations as to the feasibility of systems and/or equipment and evaluates construction products for their application.
- Plans logistical aspects of project execution so that plans can be properly incorporated into the project documents.
- Assists in the assembly and distribution of equipment and construction bid packages.
Safety Compliance & Facility Coordination:
- Ensures a safe and efficient work environment.
- Verifies contractors are meeting and practicing all required OHSA and industry approved safety standards.
- Coordinates with facility and the contractor to ensure facility operations are not interrupted.
- Obtains required licenses/permits, confers with city or county inspectors, and ensures compliance of legal requirements, company regulations, and building and safety codes.
Cost Estimation:
- Assists in the development of accurate budgets for all projects and clients that reflect all costs associated with construction.
- Manages the planning, materials, building, and budget of construction projects.
- Negotiates and provides cost estimates for construction work and associated change orders.
Business Development:

- Assists with business development activities by promoting Henderson to existing and potential clients.
