Henderson Engineers is seeking an Applications Director to join their team in the Lenexa, KS office. The Applications Director is responsible for setting the strategic direction and execution of the organization's software initiatives, aligning technology solutions with business goals. They oversee the deployment and overall user experience of enterprise-wide software applications, as well as the research and integration of new software technologies. The Applications Director will collaborate closely with business leaders to optimize software utilization, enhance user satisfaction through training, and ensure the efficient use of resources through effective budget management.
Minimum Qualifications for the Role are:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related field required. Equivalent years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- 10 years of relevant experience in application management, software development or IT leadership required.
- Proven experience in leading the strategic planning and execution of enterprise application systems.
- Deep experience with Microsoft 365 and power suite, Autodesk, Bluebeam, as well as working with various ERP systems.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, application architecture and user experience design.
- Excellent fiscal management and budgeting skills, with experience overseeing large-scale technology projects.
- Ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams, manage complex projects, and collaborate with senior leadership.
- Effective communication, negotiation, and critical thinking skills.
- Must demonstrate proficiency in all core competencies as described and characterized in this job description.
Skills and Duties you will be Responsible for while in this role:
Applications Strategy & Operations:
- Define annual goals and develop strategies for the optimal use of third-party and custom-built software to drive innovation and business efficiency.
- Establish development priorities for custom add-ins and tools, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and business needs.
- Manage the deployment of custom and third-party software applications, ensuring smooth integration with existing systems and alignment with current and future business needs.
- Oversee the ongoing maintenance, updates, and performance monitoring of deployed applications.
- Lead research initiatives into new software technologies and methodologies, ensuring the organization remains at the forefront of industry trends.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations for future application investments.
- Provide expert recommendations to the CTO on enterprise software selections and improvements to support strategic objectives and business growth.
- Ensure that software solutions are scalable, secure, and in line with industry standards.
- Develop and manage the annual applications budget in coordination with the CTO, ensuring financial oversight, resource optimization, and alignment with strategic goals.
- Monitor expenditures to ensure compliance with budgetary constraints and to promote cost-efficient solutions.
Collaboration & Training:
- Work closely with other department directors to ensure that application strategies are integrated with the broader organizational goals, fostering cross-functional alignment.
- Promote collaboration across departments to enhance software adoption, utilization, and constructive collaboration in achieving company objectives.
- Create and implement strategies for software-related training and user support to enhance employee effectiveness and satisfaction.
- Monitor user feedback and adjust training programs to ensure continuous improvement in software adoption and utilization.
