Fire Technical Manager

The Fire Technical Manager is responsible for coordinating and managing the execution of quality and efficiency strategies and policies related to the engineering work within their discipline and across the organization. The Fire Technical Manager works with Technical Directors to develop and align discipline-specific engineering approaches, quality strategies, and business decisions across the organization. The Technical Manager proactively monitors technical quality within the discipline and responds to opportunities for improvement through mentoring, training, or direct engagement in process improvement.

- Supporting the general development of design and engineering approaches for Fire Sprinkler, Fire Alarm, and Fire Code Consulting for the organization.
- Deploying in a flexible and nimble manner to help sectors address project issues with the intent to coordinate and manage execution of quality and efficiency strategies. Be willing to help out and serve.
- Helping sectors apply discipline-specific project workflows to optimize project financial health.
- Seeking efficiency improvements as you learn about the nuanced engineering approaches each of our Sectors takes to designing fire protection systems.
- Collaborating with Fire designers and engineers across sectors to build relationships and networking.
- Directly working on process improvement initiatives for the discipline related to application guides, tools, details, schedules, and Revit resources.
- Progressing the business and goal plans set by the Engineering Operations department.
- Collaborating with other disciplines outside of Fire to share and incorporate best practices to increase consistency and quality across the organization.
- Teaching and mentoring other design staff, including presenting engineering fundamentals classes or other technical training.
- Investing in others to build up the pipeline of talent at the organization.
- Researching technical questions and sharing lessons across the organization.
- Staying up to date on industry trends to grow and develop the discipline.
- Researching innovative methods to improving the discipline, including automations, machine learning on data, and exploring LLM applications.
- Evaluating and prioritizing needs as they develop within the discipline to maximize investment return.
- Engaging in industry events and acting as a brand ambassador.

- Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering, construction management, science, or technology preferred. Years of relevant experience in leadership/management position will be considered in lieu of requisite education.
- Professional Engineering Licensure or relevant discipline/industry equivalent strongly preferred.
- Eight (8+) or greater years of relevant experience, with a minimum of two (2+) years leadership/management experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge in discipline of expertise with a track record of technical and management excellence in such field.
- History of contributing to technical coaching, mentoring, and training, with the ability to motivate others.
- Knowledge and understanding of current technical needs in the industry and proven track record of quality monitoring, maintenance, and improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to mobilize organizational technical strategies for project execution.
- Strong communication skills and keep others well informed and conveys information clearly, concisely, and professionally.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills; team oriented.
- An ability and willingness to learn areas adjacent to your area of expertise as well as the ability to teach others.
- A strong desire to mentor team members and help them grow in their technical abilities and advance in their career.
- A strong commitment to quality.
- Working knowledge of earned value, contracts, and construction processes and methods required.
- Working knowledge of Revit and Bluebeam Revu required.

Salary ranges:
Los Angeles Salary Range: $119,096 – $178,644
Las Vegas Salary Range: $107,802 – $161,703
Denver Salary Range: $112,936 – $169,404
New York Salary Range: $125,256 – $187,884
Philadelphia Salary Range: $112,936 – $169,404
