Job Summary: The role of the Programmable Logic Controller Technician is to, when processes are automated, keep the controllers operable to limit process interruptions. It also includes system monitoring, debugging and troubleshooting operational problems, making repairs and performing preventative maintenance activities. As an engineer, you may also be responsible for specifying, designing and building programs to be installed on equipment. Other duties include wiring controllers to the equipment, labeling the wiring for safety, and documenting the programs designed for the equipment.

Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:   
o    Project Management
o    Design, program, operate, service and maintain PLC devices
o    Provide strong hands-on support for PLCs/electrical/mechanical
o    Analyze problems on equipment and supervise needed repairs. Interpret technical information to ensure proper repair.
o    Develop and Implement Process Improvement Projects 
o    Contractor Management
o    Implement PM systems for PLC devices
o    Provide training for electricians to monitor, debug and troubleshoot systems.
o    Integrate electrical wiring requirements to control pneumatic and hydraulic systems
o    Review work orders/preventative maintenance and transmit proper interpretation for the supervisor or mechanic performing work.
o    Prepare requisitions necessary for tools, parts and equipment

Must demonstrate a strong sense of urgency, performs work outside area when needed, monitors progress against goals, and utilizes data and systematic processes to develop solutions that are sustainable.


Qualifications:  
 
•    High school diploma required
•    3 years food manufacturing experience preferred 
•    Strong team building skills
•    Proficient in computer skills (Studio 5000, RS logix 500, Advanced Controls, Microsoft excel, word, outlook and experience)
•    Allen Bradley Experience VFD’s Powerflex 40, 525, 755 
•    Understands and has utilized continuous improvement tools; such as, lean, theory of constraints, value stream mapping, root cause analysis, and/or six sigma
•    Knowledge of OSHA regulations, HACCP and Food GMPs (in a bakery environment preferred) and experience implementing food safety programs
•    Strong understanding of sanitation, food handling, and food safety practices in a manufacturing environment preferred
•    Can demonstrate an ability to prioritize with a sense of urgency and take appropriate action when necessary
•    Demonstrated cost management/reduction
•    Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills 
•    Demonstrated expertise in multi-tasking, handling projects and meeting deadlines in a complex manufacturing environment
•    Effective communication and listening skills
•    Strong interpersonal skills demonstrating dignity, respect, candor and commitment
•    Effective use of key performance indicators and data analysis to drive results 
•    Factory Talk View Experience (Build, install, troubleshoot)
•    Knowledge of Ethernet protocols (Basic IT troubleshooting)
