SUMMARY

Oversee the risk for the company during the preconstruction phase by providing oversight and leadership to preconstruction teams. They are typically involved in multiple projects but may be assigned to a single large project when merited. In addition to having responsibility for the technical success and execution of the projects they work on; they are also responsible for managing the relationships with the other team members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Critically analyze bid documents and understand risk and opportunities and articulate those to management.
  • Define contract risk and establish contract cost exposure and probability due to the identified risk. Propose potential risk mitigation measures and/or recommend reasonable contract contingency.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor other team members and junior estimators. Participates in talent management activities, such as coaching and performance reviews of others.
  • Expert level HCSS knowledge including project specific input of labor rates, equipment rates, insurance, bonding, and taxes.
  • Manage the delivery of preconstruction services for projects, providing input, coordination, and problem-solving value at all stages of design development.
  • Develop and nurture effective and lasting customer/client relationships.
  • Operates and conducts themselves as a Senior Leader of the company, motiving teams
  • Strong sense of urgency for internal business requirement as well as external / customer focused.
  • Effectively lead teams and communicates the Company’s and Sectors plan to achieve the Sector and divisions goals.

QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree in Engineering and or Construction Management; 7-10+ years’ experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience considered.  Must have experience in Business development, Operations, managing projects and a thorough knowledge of commercial construction, safety standards, project management, and construction regulations.  Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities, and see projects through to completion. 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and to use hands to type, handle, or feel and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand or walk.  The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds when maintaining records.
