JOB PURPOSE / POSITION OVERVIEW

The Learning & Development Manager will support the Learning and Development (L&D) team in the planning, coordination, and execution of training and development initiatives and is responsible for assisting with the design of organizational learning strategies, development of learning programs, promoting a culture of learning, measuring the effectiveness of learning initiatives and helping coordinate the implementation of the Company’s technical training program, ensuring Haydon workforce has the right development tools at the right time. The primary function of the Learning & Development Manager is to assist in developing a long-term training strategy through initiatives like succession planning or skills gap analysis to implement solutions that are innovative and align with organizational goals.

The Learning & Development Manager will coordinate, organize, and facilitate on or offsite training programs and workshops for all levels of employees, assisting with presentations, learning materials, and facilitation. This role is essential for developing comprehensive training strategies for the organization, overseeing training resource allocation, and analyzing training effectiveness to mitigate risk. This position will monitor the effectiveness of training and collect feedback from attendees to recommend future improvements.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advocating and communicating Haydon’s core values of Grit, Find a Way, Many as One, Shoulder to Shoulder and Heart in collaboration with leadership to develop culture across all areas of the organization.
  • Develop engaging and effective training programs, learning materials, including eLearning modules, instructor-led training, virtual sessions, and multimedia presentations.
  • Oversee the facilitation, logistics and communication for multiple training programs to ensure timely delivery of training with the necessary resources.
  • Develop and implement employee performance measurement tools to evaluate program success and areas for improvement.
  • Utilize employee performance data and survey results to pinpoint inefficiencies and tailor development programs that address specific organizational needs.
  • Collaborate with leaders and subject matter experts to gather and verify training content, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
  • Regularly review the effectiveness of existing training and development programs by measuring outcomes and adjusting strategies to improve overall organizational performance.
  • Engage directly with employees at various levels, offering coaching, guidance, and development opportunities to enhance individual performance and career growth.
  • Source and recommend vendors, learning technologies, and other external partners to design, develop, or deliver learning solutions where applicable.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends and best practices in adult learning and facilitation.
  • Ability to travel as needed to local construction sites.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (KSA’s, Education, YOE)

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Bilingual English/Spanish speaking
  • Minimum five years’ experience in training facilitation or instructional design
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and web-based technologies.
  • Knowledge of learning technologies and training tools like Articulate, Adobe Captivate, or similar software for creating interactive learning content and modules.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • APTD/CPTD
  • CliftonStrengths Coaching Certification
  • Excel proficiency to include: VLOOKUP, data sourcing.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS (environment, noise level, public interactions)

  • Office working environment, regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about office building and job trailers.
  • Ability to drive to job sites to meet with teams/employees in outdoor construction environments and may include high heat, walking on uneven terrain, climbing stairs, loud noises.
  • Lift and move up to 15 pounds.
  • Ability to wear required PPE on job sites.
  • Standing for long periods of time to facilitate training
  • Computer work, sitting.
