SENIOR GRAPHIC DESIGNER

SUMMARY

This position will provide forward-thinking ideas and implement strategies to promote products and services to drive brand awareness across target markets.  Work is performed within bank and statutory policies and procedures; independent judgment and complex decision-making is required to perform job duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Work with internal Marketing team and internal stakeholders to produce engaging, intentional graphic designs that build awareness, drives engagement and loyalty.

 

Collaborate with SVP – Director of Marketing and internal marketing team to establish creative direction, project scope and produce final deliverables by deadline.

 

Manage multiple projects at the same time, ensuring they are completed and approved on time.

 

Adhere to brand standards, maintaining consistency throughout each project.

 

Promote Hawthorn Bank through development, coordination and implementation of graphic designs into projects, including marketing materials, brochures, reports/presentations, logos, billboards, website, social media, t-shirt designs, wall/window graphics, building signage, ATM wraps, screen savers, banners, invitations, gifting, specialty items, etc. to be used in various applications (print, web, outdoor, etc.) for all delivery channels, including traditional and electronic.

 

Identify opportunities to contribute to Hawthorn Bank’s brand awareness by generating design ideas

 

Create infographics and visual guides.

 

Develop new and improve existing tools (i.e., printer, software, etc.).

 

Integrate new technology and best practices to increase impact and efficiency.

 

Use Adobe Creative Suites to create graphic images and design layouts that communicate company messaging and align with brand direction, including a selection of color, images and typography.

 

Test graphics across various media, ensuring designs are visually appealing and on brand.

Review final designs for errors before publishing; be open to feedback; have the willingness to adjust designs accordingly.

 

Coordinates and supplies production specifications for print vendors and other vendors – files, samples, etc. as required.

 

Maintains accurate and complete production records.

 

Work within established budgets.

 

Keep current with the latest design trends, tools and technologies.

 

Monitor competition and provide ideas to stand out.

 

Comply with all banking regulations, policies, and procedures.

 

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Maintain educational and professional expertise through attendance at job related seminars, conferences and workshops and involvement in professional civic and community groups in leadership positions.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

None.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in the creative arts/graphic design field.

 

Possess a minimum of five years of proven graphic design experience with a strong portfolio of work.

 

Experience working with print house vendors on print specifications, color management, and print quality checks.  

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.  Communicate clearly, consistently, and accurately across a variety of channels. Possess excellent communication skills and be an active listener. 

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to make objective decisions using sound judgment.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must have the ability to operate PC and printer, copy and fax machines and telephone. Must have good working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software programs. Video and photography knowledge. Proficiency using graphic design, imaging, video, and presentation software. Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Advanced PC knowledge.

Has frequent contact with all departments and external contacts.  Ability to interact with diverse groups of people, develop strong networks, and build credibility within the Bank to drive projects forward.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid driver’s license.

COMMENTS

Position may require occasional overnight travel to attend various meetings and training sessions. Position requires the ability to work before or after normal business hours to attend various meetings and meet deadlines.
