$19.20 - $20.70 PER HOUR - Bonus Eligible

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The purpose of this position is to sell Harmons’ fresh floral items by providing remarkable customer service. In addition, this person will maintain quality standards and profitability for their floral shop. This person will train and mentor all floral associates and know all aspects of the floral department operations. This person will also determine production and inventory levels for the floral department. This person will also provide exceptional customer service. This is a part time position working approximately 24 hours per week, Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 10am-6:30pm.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follows established departmental and store policies and procedures
  • Ensures the quality and freshness of all products and services in the floral department
  • Responsible for maintaining the appropriate product assortment and inventory levels for the floral department
  • Confirms pricing accuracy and signage for all products, paying particular attention to ad items
  • Ensures the floral department is cleaned and sanitized daily and meets the company standards for appearance
  • Receives fresh flower deliveries from the Distribution Center and other plant deliveries. Verifies quality of delivered products
  • Displays, merchandises, and upgrades floral products
  • Ensures displayed items are fresh, watered, and rotated appropriately
  • Creates custom floral orders including upgrading bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres, and other special orders
  • Delivers excellent customer service to all customers
  • Orders product and creates production sheets to meet the needs of the floral department based on past and projected sales
  • Completes assigned tasks efficiently and in a timely manner
  • Sets a professional and positive example to others
  • Communicates openly and frequently with HHB Manager, Store Director, and the Floral Trainer
  • Ensures company standards for safety, sanitation, and productivity are maintained
  • Writes the floral department schedule to ensure coverage and meet labor goals
  • Teaches, mentors, and educates associates to help them be successful members of the team
  • Provides honest, direct, and constant feedback to associates regarding their performance and areas of improvement; assesses associate performance and influences promotion, discipline, etc.
  • Promptly addresses and resolves associates’ concerns and/or grievances
  • Performs quarterly inventory of all floral products

Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities:

A high school diploma or GED and some college education are preferred; five years of floral experience preferred; or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Knowledge of proper fresh flower processing
  • Knowledge of proper care for the wide variety of plants in the floral department
  • Must enjoy working with and handling floral products
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures
  • Excellent organization and planning skills
  • Must possess solid communication skills, including verbal and listening skills to effectively and efficiently communicate with and manage diverse groups of people
  • Ability to professionally and appropriately handle conflict
  • Must possess the ability to accept constructive review and be accountable for one’s own success as well as the success of your team
  • Required to make logical, significant decisions using general, recognized skills and techniques
  • Must possess integrity, a positive attitude, a sense of urgency, be mission-driven, and be self-directed with a demonstrated passion for Harmons’ mission and commitment to working collaboratively

Work is generally performed in a safe and comfortable store environment with the possibility of frequent exposure to cold, slippery, and wet conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to grasp, push, pull, carry, stoop, twist, crouch, and reach; perform tasks requiring repetitive motion and eye, hand, and foot coordination; hear and respond to customer inquiries. Also requires standing, walking, and bending throughout the entire workday and the ability to maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds from location to location.
