House Without a Key - Bartender (Part-Time)

As an integral part of a team, the Bartender is responsible for continuously looking for ways to improve each guest’s experience from providing exceptional guest service to preparing and serving beverages to guests according to hotel specifications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Maintain complete knowledge of:
All liquor brands, beers, and non-alcoholic selections available in all outlets. The particular characteristics and description of every wine/champagne on the wine list. Designated glassware and garnishes for drinks. All food and beverage menu items, preparation method/time, ingredients, sauces, portion sizes, garnishes, presentation, and prices. Daily menu specials, 86'd item. Dining room and pool layout, table/seat/numbers, proper table set-ups, hours of operation, price range, and manual system procedures with all food and beverage outlets. Scheduled in-house activities, locations, and times.
- Strictly abide by all state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons, and drunk driving.
- Continuous knowledge of Department of Health regulations and monitor cleanliness, sanitation and organization of all bar areas and storage.
- Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all department policies, procedures, and service standards.
- Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
- Ensure all drink orders are consistent and prepared according to the recipe.
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas; all chemicals used in accordance with OSHA regulations and hotel requirements.
- Complete opening side duties.
- Legibly complete accurate transfer sheets, spill sheets and distribute appropriately.
- Take inventory, prepare beverage order and input order in Adaco in adherence to outlet’s guidelines.
- Collect and report tips at the end of the assigned shift.
- Complete closing side duties.
- Perform POS functions of inputting orders verifying charges and settlement of checks.
- Ability to interact with guests sitting at the bar area. Knowledgeable about food menu items and able to describe and make suggestions.
- Familiar with POS system. Ability to input orders, process payment and settle checks according to established guidelines.
- Complete closing reports in P.O.S. system.
- Count bank at end of shift and secure bank.
- Legibly complete designated cashier reports and distribute in accordance with accounting procedures.
- Balance and drop receipts according to accounting specifications.
- Answer outlet telephone within 2 rings, using correct greeting and telephone etiquette.
- Keeps Bar Supervisor and Outlet Manager/Assistant Manager informed of all essential matters.
- Perform all other duties as may be required or assigned.
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS
Reports To: Bar Supervisor; Restaurant Manager and/or Shift Supervisor
Supervises: None
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Minimum two (2) years prior experience as a Bartender or Bar Back.
- High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate, prior restaurant service and guest relations experience preferred.
- Minimum 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
- Two-year experience as a cashier in a similar property.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
- Liquor Commission Card and certification from alcohol awareness program required to serve alcoholic beverages.
- Certification of previous training in liquor, wine and food service preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Ability to anticipate guest needs; respond promptly and acknowledge all guests.
- Ensure familiarity with all hotel services/features and local attractions and activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
- Must be highly organized, detail-oriented and have the ability to multi-task.
- Ability to maintain positive guest relations at all times.
- Knowledge of various drink recipes and beverage service standards
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
