H2M architects + engineers, a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, and environmental consulting firm with offices in NY, NJ, Connecticut and Florida seeks a dynamic Environmental Practice Leader to grow, develop, support and enhance our scope of environmental services work in a Doer-Seller role supporting growth the Windsor, CT region. The successful candidate will provide environmental project management expertise, business development, client relationship management and coordination of key environmental services within the firm. This role will be responsible for strategically growing business development efforts along with supporting technical aspects of environmental projects/operations for the firm.
Business Development/Operations/Project Management Responsibilities:
- Grow, develop and lead H2M environmental related initiatives to expand and diversify the company’s consulting client base; collaborate with others on the development of clients and business development opportunities.
- Work with market/BD/discipline leaders within the firm on various environmental business initiatives and further develop and enhance client relationships within the environmental field at the local/state level.
- Demonstrated success in growing environmental revenues in various markets (e.g., real estate, industry, energy, public agencies, etc.)
- Maintain and develop relationships with a diverse group of existing and prospective clients; utilize the resources of H2M staff as internal contacts for new leads when suitable; operate in a team environment collaborating with others on the development of clients and business opportunities.
- Develop, and manage various environmental and compliance related opportunities with clients; cross-sell environmental management/compliance services with our other primary services including training, safety, environmental investigation, remediation, geotechnical engineering, and energy.
- Provides direction to other environmental managers and staff in pursuit and delivery of new work for the market/ discipline.
- Provides technical leadership and oversight on the management on projects; works with other managers, environmental professionals/planners, and staff in developing scope of work, budgets, schedules, and plans for environmental related work.
- Participate in trade shows and be active in industry/relevant associations, including but not limited to, serving on committees, etc.
- Prepare/coordinate proposals in conjunction with the marketing and technical staff. Assist with “Go/No Go” decisions for responding to RFP’s. Marshall the necessary resources on proposal opportunities which may involve developing a proposal strategy, writing portions of the proposal, and coordinating efforts of other technical writers to develop a winning proposal.
- Perform other responsibilities as needed to ensure the success of environmental projects and BD efforts.
Education & Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences or Engineering with 15-20 years of demonstrated managerial-level planning, environmental compliance, and project management experience of large-scale initiatives. This must include previous business development and client management experience and demonstrated ability to grow and manage client relations (serving a large group of internal/external clients).

Professional registration – LEP, PE, PG, CGWP, LSRP or other related professional registrations highly desirable.

Strong understanding of state and federal environmental regulations and the effect of the regulations on business operations and property development.

Must be able to generate new business from existing and new clients.

Knowledge and understanding of seller/doer business model within environmental/industry/multidisciplinary firm.

Ability to coordinate resource needs for environmental project success and work collaboratively with teams in multiple disciplines and offices.

Extensive knowledge and understanding of CT state level environmental market and clients.

Must have strong management/supervisory skills to lead a group of technical staff at various levels.

Ability to effectively delegate responsibilities when necessary to marshal proposals, keep existing clients satisfied and help find new work.

Ability to communicate effectively and develop and give presentations to groups.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Periodic travel required.
The salary range for this role is $140,000 - $170,000 annually.
The employment offer may deviate from this published range based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, specialty, knowledge, education, geography and/or related certifications – not related to any applicant’s characteristics protected by local, state or federal law. Note: The salary or hourly rate indicated does not include other forms of compensation or benefits.
