H2M architects + engineers, a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, environmental consulting firm seeks Deputy Market Director in our Municipal Market.  This position will be responsible for supporting the current Market Director to implement the overall vision, planning, execution and success of the corporate strategy in the market to achieve the highest level of understanding and dynamics of operating within the Market.  This role involves maintaining and developing relationships with a diverse group of existing and prospective clients, and interfacing with all levels of the organization to develop and maintain the market share. This will involve collaboration and effective communication across H2M disciplines and offices to ensure market needs are met.             

Job Responsibilities:

Support the Municipal Energy Market Director with the ongoing implementation of H2Ms market business plan. These responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

 

  • In conjunction with the Market Director, work to develop and oversee implementation of strategy for municipal market growth:
    • Establish and implement a plan for growth of the market in existing service areas, as well as new areas for the Market.
    • Maintain Market revenue and operating profit projections. 
  • Assist in the preparation of a detailed market plan:
    • In collaboration with project managers, discipline/service leaders, marketing, business development and human resources, this plan should layout the overall strategy to grow and expand H2M services in the market, identify challenges, and set goals and objectives.
    • Coordinate expected market revenues with the various disciplines in creating the annual overall business plan and monitor performance throughout the year.
  • In conjunction with the Marketing department, develop marketing strategy:
    • This may include collateral materials like brochures and handouts, trade shows, articles, blogs, social media, direct mail, press releases, advertising and other aspects of marketing with a goal of promoting H2M’s presence in the market.
  • Prepare/develop a toolbox for sales to assist in opening new doors for the market:    
    • Track leads and opportunities to support growth.
    • Work with account managers to farm additional work from current clients.
  • Participate in trade shows and be active in industry/relevant associations including, but not limited to, serving on committees or hold an elected position.
  • Provide opportunity and visibility to market:
    • Submit/publish articles and give presentations whenever the opportunities exist.
    • Prepare/coordinate proposals in conjunction with the marketing and technical staff.  Take the lead on the “Go/No Go” decision for responding to RFP’s.  
    • Prepare submissions for project awards in coordination with the marketing team - be known as the H2M representative and “the expert” in the market. 

 

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s degree preferred. 
  • 15+ years experience in the business of consulting, government affairs/relations, and/or municipal operations/projects
  • Demonstrated and Successful track record of performance for obtaining new clients and in creating new projects for existing clients.  
  • Ability to develop long-term, professional relationships with existing and potential clients including strong one-on-one client development and entertainment, where appropriate.
  • Strong business development/client management skills coupled with an ability/potential to cultivate existing and new clients and expand business relationships and opportunities.
  • Prior experience coordinating and writing proposals.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication and presentation skills.

The salary range for this role is $130,000 - $180,000 annually.
