GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To provide Case Management for young adults including; Education, Training, Employment, and follow-up services to Growth Opportunities program participants.
- To encourage and promote a mutually beneficial relationships to maximize Growth Opportunities program performance.
- To effectively extend customer service and case management to clients through training and assistance with Employment and/or Post-Secondary Education (PSE) Preparation Services.
- To represent Mission Manager on behalf of the GIUMSC and the Growth Opportunities program in absentia at community events, collaborate meetings, general Growth Opportunities and other events as assigned.
- To coordinate with the Career Development Services Staff, other departments and agencies to establish and implement appropriate services to Growth Opportunities program participants.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To be knowledgeable of Goodwill Industries International Growth Opportunities grant guidelines, as well as GIUMSC practices, policies and procedures to ensure program compliance.
- To assist Growth Opportunities program staff in successful program marketing strategy and implementation.
- To perform participant pre-enrollment screenings to ensure compliance with program acceptance criteria.
- To administer intake responsibilities to include candidate assessments and Growth Opportunities program orientation.
- To collect, organize, and analyze participant data to assess individual interests, aptitudes and abilities.
- To provide occupational, educational, legal, and economic information to aid program participants in establishing realistic vocational and educational objectives for development of individualized employment plans (IEPs).
- To provide pre-employment, skill-based and job development training to program participants.
- To assist court involved participants through the criminal justice system.
- To provide learning environment conducive for young adult participants.
- To develop, evaluate, and monitor each participant’s performance to obtain increases in educational functioning levels (literacy/numeracy/digital), and workforce and/or post-secondary educational readiness.
- To track and record program participant’s performance to ensure program weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting compliance.
- To maintain accurate and complete program participant files.
- To assist program participants in identifying barriers to employment to develop individualized support service plans required to overcome these barriers.
- To input case management notes and participant data into GII, GIUMSCs tracking software.
- To refer program participant (and families) to appropriate resources and connect to partner agencies as needed.
- To communicate professionally and effectively with supervisors, co-workers, program participants, community partners and all stakeholders to ensure successful program performance and outcomes.
- To assist in resolving day-to-day problems within the program and among participants.
- To report program operational issues to Mission Manager.
- Maintains consistent tracking and follow-up for assigned Growth Opportunities participants for a minimum of two years.
- To attend community meetings and identify opportunity areas of collaboration between Growth Opportunities and other community youth programs.
- To assist participants with successful completion of post-secondary admissions, financial aid and/or scholarship application.
- To communicate professionally and effectively with supervisor, co-workers, program participants, community partners and all stakeholders to ensure successful program performance and outcomes.
- To ensure adherence and compliance to all company policies.
Reports to: Mission Manager- Growth Opportunities
Education/Work Experience: Bachelor Degree in field of Human Services or Education preferred; or appropriate combination of post-secondary education and work experience in field of Human Services or related fields to support the mission.
At least 1 year of experience in the field of Human Services, Education, customer service, teaching environment, and/or Recreation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of social service, labor market information, post-secondary education and community agency practices
- Ability to network and develop relationships with agencies and employers
- Ability to present in a classroom environment
- Proficient and skilled in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Outlook
- Ability to:
- Read, write, speak and understand English
- Bi-Lingual, preferred
- Give and carry out instructions in verbal and written format
- Communicate effectively and efficiently
- Interact and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and youth of varying social and cultural backgrounds
- Work independently and demonstrate time management skills

- Handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Physical Requirements: Daily requirements may include climbing, balancing, reaching, talking, hearing, seeing, standing, stooping, kneeling, handling, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling. May be exposed to dust and odors. May be required to do limited work outdoors. Some travel may be required.
Safety & Security: Responsible for following all safety, and security procedures as directed by GIUMSC policy. Report all accidents, however slight, to your supervisor immediately. Never leave the premises without reporting any accident that occurred during work time. If medical treatment is needed during non-work hours, the supervisor should be contacted.

Work Hours: Hours are between 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday – Friday or whatever hours are required to meet the professional requirements of the job.
Work Attire: Casual business attire; however, professional business attire when appropriate. Each associate should present a fashionable, neat, and clean appearance that will be reflective of GIUMSC’s positive image in the community.
Driver’s License/Auto Insurance: Each associate should maintain a current and valid South Carolina driver’s license with limited points and/or traffic citations and adequate automobile liability insurance coverage.
