Provide leadership to ensure individuals with DD have stronger connections, better benefits, improved health, enhanced quality of life, increased self-esteem, natural supports, develop abilities.
 

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist staff in building effective, strategic partnerships in the community that foster independence, provide a variety of integration, and skill building opportunities that are based on person centered planning and result full integration in the community, stronger connections, better benefits, improved health, enhanced quality of live, increased self-esteem, natural supports, and skill development. May serve as community liaison with other agencies and volunteer sites.
  • Identify key outcomes of community integration, employment, and informed choice to measure and report success
  • Provide training to teams to ensure outcomes of community integration, employment and informed choice are met
  • Supervise assigned staff.  Serve as a primary source for hiring and dismissing employees, conducting performance appraisals, and providing regular feedback and guidance.  Maintain complete documentation on personnel actions. 
  • Work closely with the Manager of Special Projects to provide input into the effectiveness of the community integration model.  
  • Develop, implement and review IPs with participants and their teams for purposeful and person-centered planning. 
  • Monitor that services provided to all participants are of a high standard and are person centered.
  • Ensure transportation needs of participants are met with the least restrictive method.
  • Ensure compliance with county, state, and federal mandated standards. 
  • Investigate documentation, incident reports, or any occurrence that would indicate a need for retraining of the staff in order to ensure the highest level of safety for the participants.  Conduct any necessary retraining sessions.
  • Ensure transparent and open communication with all stakeholders, including providers, families, and service coordinators leading to informed ISP development, ensuring health and safety and most integrated, community access.
  • Ensure daily coverage needs to provide each participant with an activity or work group when an instructor is not available. 
  • Monitor the finances of the program as well as the participants.  Distribute money to participants as needed, balancing activity money and personal funds.

Education and Experience – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

  • Four-year college degree in social services or related field.
  • Three to five years of experience in social services, program management, and/or working with developmentally disabled individuals.
  • Must maintain certifications in CPR, First Aid, CITIES, Adult Services, and Medication Administration and other required trainings.
  • Must maintain valid OH driver’s license and personal car insurance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.

  • Knowledge of the rules and regulations involved with developmentally disabled programs.
  • Excellent understanding of the IDD field, including regulatory compliance, services structure, reporting requirements, accreditation certification standards, billing, and other applicable systems.
  • Ability to balance the wants and needs of both the staff and participants.
  • Clear verbal communication skills and ability to give and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and make responsible decisions.
  • Ability to use good judgment and think quickly and rationally in difficult or stressful situations.

Work Environment – Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

  • Exposed to moderate noise levels.

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and communicate on a daily basis.

  • Must have finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination to work on computer, telephone, and related office equipment.
  • Must be able to assist with the physical support and care of participants as needed.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds with assistance to provide personal care to individuals.
  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
