Summary

 

Coaches Goodwill employees throughout our distributed workplaces to ensure they understand benefits eligible to them, as well as, how to access and most effectively use them.  Collaborates on development and implementation of annual benefits communication plan.  Assists in administering benefits plans though all applicable platforms.  

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Proactively meets with employees in the field to help them identify their unique healthcare needs based on past experience and healthy lifestyle goals.  Ensures they know how to navigate Goodwill’s benefits plans, especially healthcare – demonstrating access, navigation and providing references and/or follow-up as needed.
  • Facilitates benefits enrollment and administrative processes.
  • Responds to inquiries for information and resolves questions related to benefits status and usage. Counsels and assists employees regarding benefit status and payment of premiums.  
  • Provides forms, instructions, and other benefits materials to employees.
  • Assists in the implementation, administration, communication, and compliance of benefit plans.
  • Coordinates informational sessions and makes employee presentations on benefit programs to promote effective use and healthy lifestyles. 
  • Assists in ensuring accuracy of benefit records in applicable platforms. 
  • Maintains high level of confidentiality and has a working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and municipal regulations as they relate to benefits administration and human resources. 

 

Ancillary Job Functions

 

  • May assist in administering workers compensation programs as necessary.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience – An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • HR or Benefits certifications desired.
  • One to three years prior relevant experience desired. 
  • Experience in HR & Benefits preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.

 

  • Working knowledge of benefits options and plan designs as well as compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and Goodwill Columbus policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and benefits administration applications.
  • Role model maintaining confidentiality of health-related information voluntarily shared by employees while supporting them.
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills including effective communication, active listening, empathy and genuine collaboration with all levels.
  • Ability to exercise critical judgment when reviewing, analyzing, and managing complex scenarios.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Passion for helping employees make the most of their eligible benefits to achieve their healthy lifestyle goals.

 

Work Environment – Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

 

  • General office conditions.  Exposed to moderate noise levels.
