Lumos is looking for a full-time Facilities Technician! If you have experience in facilities, light plumbing, electrical, or general handyman services and are excited for a fast-paced experience, ready to help us grow, and ready to recommend process changes that ensure we’re harnessing our technology to the best of our ability while broadening our ability to set up and maintain our service, we want to hear from you!

 

As a Facilities Technician, you’ll help us maintain the safe & aesthetic functioning of assigned facilities and equipment – essential help to help us meet our mission of turning up service for our customers!

 

***Onsite job with travel using Company vehicle to other worksites as needed. ***

Essential Functions

 

  • Maintains exterior of assigned buildings and surrounding landscape for aesthetics & safety – overseeing landscape vendors.
  • Oversees snow removal vendors and assists as needed between services such as salting sidewalks.
  • Performs small maintenance repairs in assigned locations, including changing light bulbs, minor plumbing and electrical repairs, minor office system and equipment repairs, hanging whiteboards in offices & assembling office furniture items.
  • Reports and resolves any obvious building & equipment repairs such as: light bulb replacement, lock adjustment, carpet repair, broken glass, holes in walls, ceiling tile replacement, tripping hazards, etc.
  • Provides preventive maintenance of facility and office equipment.
  • Identifies the need for contractors or vendors for more advanced services – contacting appropriate number of vendors to define scope, receive proposals, and review with supervisor. 
  • Escorts onsite vendors & visitors; performs courier services (mail & supply pickup and delivery).  
  • Inspects fire extinguishers and sprinkler control valves as mandated at assigned buildings.
  • Works with the Safety Team to monitor/refill first aid kits at assigned buildings.
  • Ensures Company vehicles are properly cleaned, maintained, and inspected.
  • Complies with all safety regulations & requirements to maintain a successful safety record.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including departmental and cross-functional projects.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

                                                                                                                      

  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship building, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to understand mechanical terminology.
  • Experience performing small mechanical, plumbing, electrical repairs and carpentry work.
  • Ability to organize and schedule varied work activities, while adapting to changes in assignments.
  • Basic MS Office Skills (Word, Outlook, Excel, and Project).

 

Other Experience & Requirements

 

  • 1-3 years’ relevant work experience in facilities, light plumbing or electrical required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Trade School achievement preferred.  
  • Proactive, independent, and ability to take initiative to keep on-task and on-target.
  • Fiber or Telecom industry experience essential.

 

Physical Requirements

 

  • Frequent time spent walking, standing, bending, and stooping.
  • Must utilize appropriate clothing and footwear to maintain safety.
  • Ability to use computer, keyboard, and other peripherals.
  • Near-constant use of sight, speech, hearing, comprehension, and reasoning.
  • Ability to safely lift 50-100lbs. and transport up to 50ft.
  • Experienced ability to safely operate power tools, equipment, and hand tools.
  • Safely performs all duties in compliance with MSDS guidelines for the use of products, chemicals, and the proper use of safety equipment provided by the Company.
