OSP Construction Project Engineer
Lumos is looking for a full-time OSP Construction Project Engineer! If you are an OSP Construction Project Engineer who’s excited for a fast-paced experience, ready to help us grow, and ready to recommend process changes that ensure we’re harnessing our technology to the best of our ability while broadening our scope managing the construction and installation of an Outside Plant (OSP) network (poles, aerial, buried, and underground fiber facilities) within a specified market area. The OSP Construction Project Engineer has direct accountability for overseeing line-crews, splicers, and contract crews all simultaneously while ensuring all OSP construction projects get completed in a safe and timely fashion within CAPEX budget parameters across multiple projects.
- Virtual Position: This position is more than 90% in the field, on construction sites, and candidate must reside within the U.S. State of Alabama.

Essential Functions:
- Manage OSP crews’ activity to ensure dates and objectives are met.
- Ensure OSP crews are following proper safety guidelines.
- Ensure OSP crews are meeting NESC code for aerial construction.
- Partner with procurement on material forecast and scheduling.
- Coordinate with contractors on all permit needs.
- Create relationships with local partners.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience:
- 5+ years’ technical experience working in OSP Engineering, Construction, or Operations.
- Key Competencies:
- Strong understanding of OSHA rules, National Electric Safety Code (NESC) requirements, Federal, and local (municipality) regulations
- Must have the ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Proven project management skills with ability to effectively manage multiple projects in various geographical areas
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills
- Must exhibit honesty, integrity and courtesy in all interactions
- Must possess strong work ethic in supporting customer needs, responding promptly and consistently
