Under the supervision of the Blast/Grind Department Supervisor, performs the cleaning and preparation of castings for shipment per written process guidelines using powered grinding and chipping tools. Performs all tasks ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality at all times.

 What You'll Do:

  • Acquires specific job process card before starting to grind job.
  • During work shift, performs duties including, removing excess fins, parting lines, pads, sand, and other casting impurities, using various grind tools including, cup grinders, wheel grinders, pencil grinders, air hammers, stand grind machines, swing grind machines and cut-off - wheel machine.
  • All grind numbers and part information are recorded by the grinder on a daily timesheet received from the supervisor. This information is done accurately and turned in daily.
  • Keep work area clear of hazards and clutter and prepare area daily for next shift.
  • Know proper hooking of all castings.
  • Responsible for individual time sheets daily.
  • Attend daily scrap review meeting.
  • Additional duties may be required.

What We Need From You:

  • Minimum of completion of the tenth (10) grade, high school.
  • Must possess the ability to follow written and verbal directions.
  • Must have the ability to move freely from one area to another within the department, conform to physical requirements of the job, including ability to lift fifty pounds on a regular basis, stand in one area during shift hours, and operate all equipment in a safe manner.
  • Must be trained in safety requirements, including respiratory protection, PPE requirements and use, and any other safety requirements for employment at Grede – Browntown.
