Job Title: Staff Accountant
Salary Range: $64,000-85,000
About the Position
The Staff Accountant provides technical accounting support for the Accounting Department and is responsible for timely and accurate accounting, reporting and reconciliations.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
- Supports internal customer groups in all financial aspects of their business.
- Manages the purchasing and invoicing process for capital expenditures and fixed asset accounting tasks.
- Prepares period-end journal entries within scheduled deadlines for period close.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
- Completes period-end variance analysis and research discrepancies between actual and budgeted balances.
- Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts.
- Preparation of B&O/sales tax returns.
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of internal controls and identifies potential issues.
- Assists in the annual preparation of the organization’s budget.
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
- Supports in preparation for ad-hoc analysis and special management reports.
- Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- Identifies and participates in implementing process improvements.
- Cross-trains on other accounting responsibilities to provide backup support.
- Demonstrates safe work practices through awareness and observation in support of a safety culture; reports any potential hazards or accidents.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training/experience in accounting.
- Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in accounting preferred. Understanding of GAAP.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). D365 and Dayforce Ceridian software experience preferred.
- Ability to learn new software as appropriate and necessary to the job.

Computer/Technology Skills:
- Proficiency level of intermediateknowledge with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
- Proficiency in accounting and payroll software; D365 ERP or similar accounting software.
- Ability to learn new technology and software as related to the job.
- 10-key by touch.
Physical Abilities
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required sit for long periods of time, communicate with other employees by talking and hearing, required to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds and to operate computer systems. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Able to communicate with others effectively both verbally and written, including those who have limited English skills. Maintain reliable attendance.
